Yes you can be.
And it’s very simple: demand transport (a van, which will now be in very very short supply). Make sure you do the full van check and log it off for the slightest thing before taking it out. If it’s fine, make sure you get lost on the way to the other office. When you eventually arrive, tell them you need to be back at the office on time. You’ll probably at best deliver 2 loops then go back.
Your manager will then never ask you again. It’s all one big game, just play along with it.

What if you have your own round. Can you still be sent to another office to help out due to low staff. I got a feeling this could happen.

Your contract will say you can be sent to any Royal Mail site (within reason).
Like I say, play the game. Sign in at the start and out at the end at your own depot. Demand a van. Make sure it’s 100% road worthy. Only work your hours.

It’s great being sent to another office, you don’t do a lot of work, spend more time driving there and back

You can be asked to do any relevant job at any time subject to your contract whether you have your own duty or not.DALEDALE wrote:What if you have your own round. Can you still be sent to another office to help out due to low staff. I got a feeling this could happen.

How does this work with car insurance if they ask you the day before and then you travel from home directly to another place of work?
Im wanting to get a foot in the door in another office for an eventual transfer so will my insurance be valid from home to another office as long as I dont go via my office first?

Ask your car insurance company. No one on this forum will know the Terms and Conditions of your policy.postiewhite wrote: Im wanting to get a foot in the door in another office for an eventual transfer so will my insurance be valid from home to another office as long as I dont go via my office first?

FFS!
Why is this even being considered in the current situation?
What a way to quickly spread the virus from one office to another!!!

HT postman - grow up that’s pathetic as far as insurance if you’ve got business you can, if not you can commute from home to your place of work. Once at work you can’t travel to another place of work

What HT postman is saying is royal my procedure. You start at your office at your start time. They should provide you with transportation to the other office and be back at your own office for your finishing time. Also my insurance says commuting to my usual place of work. And don't forget to clean all the cabin and door handles of the van they lend you , before starting off - with anti-virus or soap, all as provided by RM!

The only thing pathetic I said was to make sure you get lost on the way to the other office. It’s petty but it’s one way of ensuring you don’t get picked to go there again, after all if you tell management you got lost/couldn’t find the office/took the wrong turn how can they dispute your story?
