You can’t carry a full walk in one bag
You can use a lwt that holds two bags of mail and then it’s a question of the driver meeting you to top up or pouch off and as I said. No parcels and nothing to scan. At a guess

They can just bring you a few pouches of mail you can store in your house and deliver, probably around the roads where you live

I’m not insured or stupid enough to stash bags in my house. That won’t be happenings on my shift.

There's no way any alternative delivery methods are going to result in delivery completions. It's hard enough to complete when we're working effeciently.
I imagine some will spend the day prepping and some will be out on delivery doing 2 days workload on delivery a and the next day on delivery b.

I don’t drive… my bus has actually been cancelled. With the new lockdown how does that affect me?

How far are you from your office ? Fwiw it's kinda your responsibility to get to your workplace, but you probably need to contact your manager.

Are you serious? It’s my responsibility to get to my workplace in a lockdown with no public transportation? Have you actually thought this through? Tell you what. You give me a lift to work. I don’t mind coughing while your driving.

Alot of this seems futile against such a contagious and potentially dangerous disease.

RM should offer a much more basic service, essential mail only (Nhs slips for instance) and parcels streamed over time.

Some kind of sick pay should be offered for everyone else, especially those that live with vulnerables. They have government support to pay wages. For the people that wish to help, some sort of incentive.

Or close the whole thing down for now.

Business as usual in my mail centre tonight, agency drafted in to help sort sort countless catalogues and return to sender letters, down to staff to observe the 2 meter rule. Communal areas remain open.
When are we going to start dealing with essential mail only. We can make a real difference but not as long the business continues to prioritise profit.

In RM's defence, surely if the government has classed us as a key industry that is expected to continue operating then surely RM should be entitled to govt help with all the additional cost burdens it's currently facing? (Increased sick pay, additional van hire etc)

i hope every postal worker across the entire country is geared up to refuse to work today if the conditions are not safe. think of your own life and the lives of your loved ones.

i for one do not want to end up on ventilator, gasping for breath and dying alone in an isolation unit.

be strong.
