My take on it is the walk will be prepped in the DO and brought out to you at an agreed time and place. This isn't going to work for most offices but i guess they are winging a lot of this.doveston wrote:So how does the remote start option work?

The workforce don't want Covid-19. RM are making that possible.

I think RM know it's going to be a dire situation and throwing money at extra vans for little to nil extra income isn't going to helpJahpostie wrote:Surely they just hire extra vans. Simples. Oh I forgot it's Royal Mail. (I know some don't drive but seems to me the best solution)

So it’s work from home? Nothing to scan,no parcels and everything goes though the letter box.A2B wrote:My take on it is the walk will be prepped in the DO and brought out to you at an agreed time and place. It certainly could be but obviously that won't work for everyone. The only problem is how to deal with items you can't deliverdoveston wrote:So it’s work from home? Another selfish person to make this work staggered start times have to be implemented.Would you rather start at 2pm and be at less risk to yourself and others or stick to your normal start and finish time and risk yours and others lives?Jahpostie wrote:There is no way I'll be waiting for a van and working 2 till 7 or whatever.

I’d rather RM admit they can’t implement the 2 metre social distancing and shut down. Give the army the keys to the depot and let them go through the mail to pick out any NHS letters and medicines.blakeyboy wrote:Another selfish person to make this work staggered start times have to be implemented.Would you rather start at 2pm and be at less risk to yourself and others or stick to your normal start and finish time and risk yours and others lives?Jahpostie wrote:There is no way I'll be waiting for a van and working 2 till 7 or whatever.
Unless every pouch, PDA, frame, van, even rubber band is deep cleaned there is no way any of us are safe. And given we can’t even get a bottle of sanitizer or pack of wipes it’s highly unlikely we’ll see a proper clean.
It’s no longer fun and games. We are risking our health.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I'm a so called unskilled part time worker on barely above minimum wage who gets chucked about from walk to walk. Now I'm expected to bend over backwards to deliver crap to office workers while they sit in watching Netflix. You are having a laughblakeyboy wrote:Another selfish person to make this work staggered start times have to be implemented.Would you rather start at 2pm and be at less risk to yourself and others or stick to your normal start and finish time and risk yours and others lives?Jahpostie wrote:There is no way I'll be waiting for a van and working 2 till 7 or whatever.

2155 in our mail centre and they've got 5 or 6 people working within feet of each other desperately segging trays because they're about to fail.
They couldn't care less about us.

How can they bring the walk out to you if you don’t drive?
You can’t carry a full walk in one bag

We know how this will play out.
Very little will change in our working practices. We might be given a bit of paper with some "advice" about distancing and whatnot, but be quietly bullied into dangerous practices anyway.
Then Royal Mail's backs have been covered when people get ill or die. They'll blame us for not following "procedure".
