Compensating staff who work during this time

Wonder if RM will follow companies like Sainsburys etc who are paying their staff an extra 10% on top of their wage for this month and possibly next as a thank you for working during all this?

Business owners
Employees temporarily laid off and sat around at home
Self employed
Landlords
Even benefits claimants are getting a bonus

The one group of people who have had no form of compensation throughout this are the key workers who are still working, many of whom earn far less than the £2,500 per month that's being paid to people laid off and sat at home scratching their arse and watching Netflix.

Doesn't feel entirely fair to me.

I was also thinking along these lines today, but personally I really would not want to work for any bonus/danger money, its not worth the risk.

Have to pull you up on this one mate. The £2500 (per month) you say is being paid to people "scratching their arse and watching netflix" is bending the truth somewhat.
That figure is the maximum amount given to people who are laid off and receive, from the government, 80% of their wages whilst waiting for the economy to recover and them going back to their employment.
The average worker who is put on furlow will get nowhere near that figure. Most of those who will be laid off as a result of the latest announcement are in retail and fast food, they'll be lucky to get £1000 a month considering how poorly they are paid.generally speaking, many of these people will be renting and will still have to meet that rent and bills from a reduced sum of money.
Nobody will be sat at home laughing at us workers whilst planning a luxury cruise when normality returns.

I realise that the £2,500 is the maximum figure but still the fact remains that these people are (entirely justifiably) receiving this help, whilst currently having zero commuting costs and a bit of gardening leave....whilst I'm still out there working with all the associated additional costs (including boil washing my uniform every other day) and putting myself at a much higher risk of exposure to catching the virus.

I'm not saying these people shouldn't receive this help and compensation, just that it would be nice for those of us still working to also receive some form of recognition and reward for our efforts.
