We have had months watching this spread from country to country, so we can't say we didn't know what was coming. Yet only now do we insist on PPE etc.

Poor leadership by RM & CWU has lead to members being put at an avoidable risk.
i have asked for over a month for all sanitizer gloves wipes masks (cant get it in case people are allergic to it)
excuse after excuse

Thing is, this is much bigger than RM. They have to comply with Government (at the moment advice but I think very soon, law)

This is not about RM or profits or saving money anymore. This is about ensuring the safety of human life. In the first instance, us, the posties and by ignoring us, they're ignoring the the whole country and public at large. Endangering the lives of, well millions (sounds a bit overy dramatic I know but potentially it's true).

The NHS are pleading with people to observe the 2 metre rule and we're all sorting mail, crowding into the RLE every morning, climbing into vans together, using PDAs that others have used.

We're potentially a disaster waiting to happen

Oh yeah and this Rico bloke. He was brought in to save money, make cuts and save RM. I'm sure he's very good at that but now he's been superseded by events.
He is no longer relevant. No longer fit for purpose. Just go, sit in ya mansion and enjoy your millions.
What we need now is true leadership from someone with compassion.

I agree, this is something that Royal Mail simply cannot ignore. Shame we are not allowed to do a video blog of how our depot operates to prove how Royal Mail are continuously flouting the governments advice on health and safety.

In truth, senior managers are entirely clueless how to limit social distancing at work whilst still ensuring that the units are still running efficiently and profitable. I suppose they look towards their CEO for direction but i think he has been self isolating himself for the last year.

I've just watched BBC news and it explains in detail how bad the pandemic could get in the UK. We have 233 deaths at this time of writing in the UK - the same as Italy 2 weeks ago. Every country's epidemic is different but on average each infected person apparently infects 2 and a half others, which takes on average 5 days to incubate, vthat means that on averages after 30 days,406 people will be infected. But if you cut the exposure by half so that 1 person only infects 1.25 people (50% reduction) then after 30 days instead of 406 people infected, this is cut to just 15!! Its a 95% reduction, and this is the thing that will save lives.

It needs to happen ASAP
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

By the time royal mail act IF THEY EVER DO , it will be too late most of our colleagues would have been infected with the working practices we have to endure at the moment. Its not good enough and i can see it coming down to refusing to go into work if they dont sort out more distancing and a cleaner environment with the right tools for us to clean and disinfect ourselves
