I am going to refuse if asked.

I have very vulnerable close family, I don't want to sit in a filthy van with a carefree and germ ridden 20 year old new starter (no offence)

If they go down the discipline route I'm sure the media would be interested.

Been off sick / self isolating with what the Dr told me was Coronavirus although they wouldn't let me go to the surgery to be tested.....

Anyway...fever has no gone and other than a lingering cough i actually feel much better.

Will be back at work on Monday but just been told by someone at work that I'm being put in a van share......

Where do you propose that RM park the extra vans that would be needed when many DOs struggle to find parking for their existing vans?

Where do you propose that RM get the extra vans from?

The only realistic alternative is for one to take the van out, do their walk. Once they've returned the other take the van out and do their walk

No, the realistic alternative is that RM looks after us, whilst delivering as much as possible. Some will fail, so what, prioritise the important stuff.

I just will not share a van. To heck with the consequences. My life and my loved ones lives are more important.

The non-important stuff would have to be stored in DOs as MCs won't have the room to store it

They could always do what they used to do when a visit was due, hide it in a trailer. I'm sure a lot of bulk mailings will stop soon due to businesses cutting back on staff or closing down for a while.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Van Sharing and social distancing

Post by POSTMAN »

There could be some possible updates or maybe it's just an isolated ides.

One office is changing van sharing.

As of tomorrow van sharing has ceased in a DO which is a fairly big office 120+ staff and van shares are on alternating 3 day weeks, 12 hour days.

Guy 1 does his own delivery and tracked and specials for guy 2 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and guy 2 does likewise on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

Singleton and rural duties have staggered start times so half start at 6.30am and leave the office at 7.50am and the other half start at 8am and so on, this is also on an alternating basis i.e. 6.30am Monday, 8.00am Tuesday, etc

The idea being one frame occupied, next frame empty and so on and more social distancing.

And sorry I do not know anymore and can't answer any questions.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
