As tempting as it is to protest by leaving it really is the only help we'll ever get

Bewilderment

Post by smartmarty »

Once again we blame the Union for shafting us, why not apportion the blame where it's due.... Royal Mail & the Government. If we leave the Union in droves then the Union will be finished for sure, financially crippled, leaving RM free reign to finish us off altogether.

I myself will NOT represent anyone who leaves and wants to return just because they're in the S**T with Management.

We need to regroup and back the local reps against local management, we know that our own managers have their own ideas about this agreement and will try and use it against us.

Put the dummy and toys back where they belong. :so there

Sorry mate, but it is the MEMBERS who have voted yes, so why take it out on the Union who only act according to their members' wishes. Would you prefer a democratic union to ignore the mandate given to it by the members and ovverride their wishes?

I get the impression from past experiences that there are no hard and fast rules about times and working arrangements and this has been part of RM's divide and conquer strategy. Therefore the very independence of the unit managers to do things that suit them should be turned against them in a concerted effort to make them negotiate instead of simply implement their own ideas. We will not do this by removing or reducing what unity we have in being members of a union with reps to put forward our opinions

Maybe it is time the members on this site realised that Hayes and Ward negotiated this deal, wether its good or bad ,and left it to the membership of this union to vote on it.

Yes both of them should be criticised for the way they handled the dispute and both should be made to answer a lot of questions maybe resulting in a vote of no confidence.

But that doesnt take away the fact that over 80,000 members voted for this deal while, as far as we know,40,000 coudln't be bothered putting pen to paper. This is more shamefull for me than anything.

But if people think leaving the CWU will hit Hayes and Ward then think again. The best way to hit them is by staying in and pushing for change if that is what the majority decides.

By more postal staff becoming non-unionised we play more into the hands of Leighton and Crozier than anything else. Because as I've already said the deal ,wether you think is good or bad, is still a deal and it is more than what could be achieved in a business that has more staff not in a union than those that have.

Will there be any local reps left? They've worked hard during the dispute only to be s**t on with this result.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
