Why are we all just rolling over as usual and accepting them breaking government guidelines while telling the public they're following government advice?

They have a duty of care and have even said that they have tried to get us PPE but have not yet provided it. We are perfectly entitled to refuse to work when our employer isn't caring for us and providing correct PPE. Contact the Health and Safety Executive here:

They're encouraging sentimental letter writing campaigns on Twitter and not asking anyone to think twice about ordering non-essentials online.

If you're on Twitter, make sure you comment anywhere Royal Mail is mentioned and tell people the situation. Make noise.

We've written to our MP but ofc no response.

The BBC literally hasn't run a single story on us in all of this, instead focusing on tiny human interest stories that get clicks. Same for all the other newspapers.

Complain to BBC over lack of coverage of 160,000+ essential workers:

Add this number to your phone and contact them on WhatsApp with your stories and concerns, it's the Guardian. Not sure if they're still taking input but they wanted to hear from "key workers"

I've been trying for days but it's fruitless. It's like a communal agreement by everyone that we are dispensable humans, worth a few of us dying so the nation doesn't go without its eBay crap.

And where's the hazard pay for us? Or even just actual appreciation? Lots of NHS admin workers can wfh (like my Dad) and want to shop in those supermarket hours to get the best stuff (not my Dad but he knows some who are). Meanwhile we're forced to expose ourselves for no extra pay, virtually no recognition, nothing. Even Asda (Walmart ffs!) are giving a week's extra pay in June. Why are we flat out ignored unless it's some 'thoughts and prayers' type Facebook post that goes viral, thanking us for risking our lives, when none of us signed up for that. We're not an emergency service, especially when we're busier than ever delivering dildos and d2ds for local restaurants.

I am barely sleeping. My manager agrees that RM won't do anything unless people are diagnosed with it, it'll always be a late reaction. I am thinking of going off with stress and calling it a day at this point but that just leaves everyone but me in the same f****d situation. I'm genuinely afraid that the stressing so much about the lack of safety measures
at work willl lower my immune system. It's that bad. I'm really scared. And I'll probably be OK, I'm 28 years old. But others? Not so likely they'll be ok. No doubt it's similar for many others.

Please if you can take time to do just one extra thing today, can you please get out of the Royal Mail bubble, and shout far and wide and make us heard in all of this.

I'm willing to do the work , but NOT if I don't get some form of adequate PPE and health & safety guidance.

Seriously considering reaching out to an employment lawyer this week, I've had enough of the negligence...

My proposal was that you have walkers sorting frames and putting things in trays during the day, so that when drivers come in, all they need to do is get PDA, keys, trolley and specials. Come in 20 mins apart and then leave. That's feasible in my DO of 13 duties. And then when first driver comes back, the van is cleaned down and a second delivery goes out.

That way specials are still prioritised, there's only a one day delay on post and minimal contact while walkers still get work. Only issue is that the indoor time disappears for drivers if too many walkers. Otherwise you do one shift a week on indoor sorting.

Manager said it wasn't feasible with amount of staff and amount of mail. Reduce mail volumes in a crisis? Unthinkable!

I think the angle to go from is that numerous numbers of us could be infected which we could then pass on to vulnerable people at home via whatever we post through their letterbox. This could come from mail centre workers or delivery workers.

It really is the Door2Doors issue that has left me stunned... we have 3-4 lots per duty next week, some offices reporting 5 lots.

So that's at least 15-25 minutes extra unnecessary time per day that we have to spend prepping them, indoors, in close quarters with potentially infected and infectious colleagues before going out and posting them through every letterbox on our duty.

Given that evidence suggests the virus lasts at least 24 hours on paper surfaces this is bordering on criminally negligent behaviour on RM's part
