RM Key Workers? Whatever...
I do not believe we are key workers in our current role. Delivering Cumbria Life, Costco offers, parcels from BooHoo.com etc.
I think what we are classed as behnd closed doors is dispensable, not key workers.
If the want us to play a key role in not spreading this virus then why have us working shoulder to shoulder on IPS, sharing vans and so on.
We could be utilised in a much more helpful and safer way.

I don't want to be utilised in a more helpful way. If I had wanted to put my life on the line, every time I go to work, I would have joined the army or become a firefighter. I post the mail and that is it. If you cant make that safe for me to do then send me home.

I think RM need to revise the meaning of "key worker" in this current situation. To compare me to THE REAL KEY WORKERS is an insult to NHS staff (Total bloody heroes), police and army, (likewise bloody heroes) people working in food chain and food delivery service, refuse collectors, etc. To try and tell me that by delivering an item from an online retailer, a utility bill, some takeaway d2d I am on the same standing as these guys is total bullshit. The only way we can do something is to stay at home, as we are advised, and take pressure of these guys. I for one am doing just that. Stuff RM!! I will deal with the consequences when this is all over. Don't wait for Royal Mail advice. Do the right thing.Rumple wrote:I do not believe we are key workers in our current role. That's a dangerous comment to make. I wouldn't be advising people to take this course of action...DMarvesley wrote:The only way we can do something is to stay at home, as we are advised, and take pressure of these guys. But RM can't make it 100% safe for you - to deliver mail you have to go out - if you have concerns about your employment and theLouBarlow wrote:I don't want to be utilised in a more helpful way. risk to vulnerable family members make the decision yourself and go home - lots of others haven't had the luxury of a choice, their job has just
disappeared - or like NHS staff they have made the selfless decision to help others.........

Dangerous comment lol. Maybe you aren't watching the same news I am. I've got bills to pay, rent to pay, food to buy like everyone else. I can't afford to jeopardise my job either but when comes to the kind of choice we are faced with there's no debate. Should we be putting someone's new outfit from some online retailer before people's lives. I for one don't think so. The dangerous thing is to follow Royal Mail like a herd of sheep. They are not helping us or the community by their lack of action. Haven't heard too much from our great union either.ssdd wrote:That's a dangerous comment to make. One and a half million letters posted tomorrow from the NHS to the vulnerable members of our society, I guess that makes us Key workers.

Still waiting for the decision on whether or not we are key workers in Scotland. They've left it up to local authorities. We probably will be but for those that were planning to put kids into school they are still in limbo.

And that is my original point. We should be delivering KEY items only. These 1.5 million letters will have been handled by postmen and women who are handling and touching many, many surfaces and other NON KEY items.mr hil. wrote:One and a half million letters posted tomorrow from the NHS to the vulnerable members of our society, I guess that makes us Key workers.
