Splitting the postcodes

Post by woody38 »

As many have said on here RM haven’t a clue, many of us are working to close together, I asked a manager as the post is sorted into postcodes could we come in 2 hours slots so we could space ourselves out & not be on top of each other, was told it couldn’t be done. I am not a manager but I am sure with a bit of tweaking this would work.

How could this work. Some come in at 6, some at 8, some at 10 & then finish 2 or 4 hours later than normal. You would be really popular if you were a manager

You'd still have to have the same number of staff on the IPS as apart from sequenced mail, nothing you get is sorted to postcode, just down to what is proper to an office

It’s not walksorted down to the whole postcode but if your office covers 2 postcodes it comes in sorted into one of the 2 postcodes.

For example, if your office covers the AB1 and AB2 postcode areas the packets arrive already split into either AB1 or AB2 York’s and the same thing with trays of manual flats and letters. Only the Tracked and specials arrive not segregated. This is how work arrives at out office anyway, maybe different Mail centres don’t do this.

I have a better idea we close down for two weeks along with the rest of the country.

Not all offices that cover multiple postcode areas get a split. Sequenced mail also might not have all the walks in a batch in the same postcode area. What walks are in a batch is dictated by how many delivery points there are total for all walks on a batch (think the limit might be 1,000)

Whats 2 weeks going to do, its a MINIMUM 3 months, and there is talk of there being some kind of social distancing for as long as 18 months.

Unless rhey deep clean the office in between each time slot there isn't going to work
