From this weekend those with serious health conditions must be largely shielded from social contact for around 12 weeks

I asked someone whose husband is a manager at RM and was told that if you have symptoms and that's why you selfisolate - you get sick pay. But if isolating without any symptoms- could use up annual leave or wouldn't get paid. So my understanding is you'd get statuary sick pay, yeah? as government cannot surely leave you without support.
I guess the problem is the government has been very vague so far...

well if this is the case a lot of rm will get it and some may die people cant live without money so the spread of the virus within rm will be bad and this is what the government are trying to stop so if the country goes on lockdown rm will not pay any of us because we will be isolating without any symptoms even if we have been told to do so like people have with medical conditions

At Chelmsford MC all the 70's and over have been told they can now stay at home and self isolate on full pay for the next 12 weeks mainly thanks to the union, even though the managers told them you don't have to, I think it's about 20 people who will be off now mostly part timers.

I decided on Wednesday that my wife's health, my health, my colleagues health and the health of the larger community was more important than Royal Mail. We are both in the at risk group. I got the expected response from my DOM. All he kept saying was "you haven't got any symptoms", I intend to keep it that way. At the moment I am using up next year's holiday allocation as this is the only way he would guarantee I would be paid. When will Royal Mail get their head out of the sand and do the right thing by their employees? I can't advise, and I wouldn't, people what they should do but all I can say is DO THE RIGHT THING FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES. LOOK AFTER YOUR COLLEAGUES AND THE COMMUNITY. Good luck guys.

Risk group? On Monday there will be more news on this, if you're self-isolating you get sick pay. What group are you in?

I have type 2 diabetes, asthma get the flu jab every year obviously. My wife has type 1 diabetes, respiratory problems including asthma, was rushed to hospital last year with suspected pneumonia it got so bad. Just need some clarity from RM

im in the same boat as you i have serious asthma and very worried which is making my asthma a lot worse right now im using my inhalers like there going out of fashion and i dont know how or when i will be able to get more im thinking about just going off like you but its catch 22 i have bills and a mortgage i need to know if im getting paid this whole situation is stressing me out i dont know what to do do i risk my health and go to work or risk losing everything and stay home very worried,monday i hope we will get an answer and i can take it from there

Like I say we need some clarity. I'm lucky in respect that I don't have mortgage but I know exactly where you guys are coming from. I'm afraid it was an easy choice for me. My wife's health came first. Good luck whatever you decide. We shouldn't be in this situation having to choose between paying bills or health of our families.

told today that royal mail wont be able to afford all this and we may not be paid for being isolated after end of march review , but will be paid if you have accident etc as normal . personally think its scaremongering so people dont go off willy nilly ?????

told today that royal mail wont be able to afford all this well this a problem rm will have to overcome as it is a government guideline and rm have a duty of care

Yes,to say I'm worried is an understatement.
I was diagnosed with a grade 3 cancer back in 2015 and have had 11 immunotherapy treatments.
I am not having treatment at the moment but am on regualr check ups,and probably have a suppressed immune system which is a consequence of immunotherapy anyway.
My wife is also in a high risk group with COPD.
I had a nasty cold bug just before Xmas which I passed onto her without much difficulty.
I'm waiting to see if I get one of those NHS letters this week as not really sure what to do ?

Hi I have athsma and had athsma attack twice in one week and was hospital bound due to a virus 2 months ago does any one no if this would put me in the 12 week self isolation group and do we still get paid? Cheers guys
