First of all, why does my mother, who works for the supermarket chain the COOP (and all comparable positions) only earn not much above minimum wage when now she is treated as a key worker when the ship hits the fan? Also, why are we collectively, well in delivery at least, as posties not earning hazard pay? We are all at risk having to go out on delivery five days a week and we get no real thanks for it!!!

Yes, yes, I know I am thankful, oh and 6 months full sick pay really is incredible. You are like my colleague I reckon. I asked why we didn't get any extra money for getting rid of tracked first time - every time, and his reponse was: "You get paid Dan!", well sod me, funnily enough we got paid before "first time - every time"!!!

Honestly. Coronavirus has completely broken the system, which goes to show how fragile it was in the first place.

Turns out, the jobs required to meet the basic needs of the country, are covered by only a fraction of the workforce. And many of those jobs are undervalued, such as those working in the food production industry, and supermarkets.

I don't think it's fair for people like your mother, to have to work for minimum wage, at high risk of contracting coronavirus, while others get paid 80% of their wages to sit at home.

Your mother, and all supermarket workers, deserve a huge bonus payment, for having to put up with the crap over the last couple of weeks. The supermarkets are after all, making money hand over fist at the moment.

my only worry it's now like xmas where RM are now our best mates again asking us to go the extra mile to muck in for the good of our country knowing full well their axes are being sharpened

I think there is a valid point, these people haven't actually lost their jobs, they're effectively being put on gardening leave... how come they can get up to £2,500 per month govt money for sitting at home, meanwhile I'm still out there working my ass off and putting myself at risk of contracting CV to earn less than half that!

Why shouldn't those of us that are ''lucky'' enough to still be working throughout this also get some kind of recognition and reward for our efforts?

It would all still only add up to a fraction of what the banksters got in 2008.
