No pay in two weeks
DOM gave us a semi-serious speech this morning saying that sickness in the company is now so high that in two weeks they won't be able to pay us anymore and we'll be working for free just to keep the company afloat.
Anyone else get this?
Seems like RM's way of forcing changes through by pleading poverty to me...

sometimes managers come out with more shite than a drunken tosspot in a bar at chucking out time.

Does that DOM have a bad reputation for being a failed stand-up comedian?redwomble wrote:DOM gave us a semi-serious speech

The union are in talks at the moment. There are lots of rumours circulating but given what’s happening RM can do what they want now unfortunately.

Traffic levels are going to drop so we will probably be covering vacant walks up to our time. Given people are losing their jobs in the real world I think we’re going to have to be flexible.jd9442 wrote:Yeptpost wrote:The union are in talks at the moment. working for free isn't one of the flexibilities though.

There's a lot of this passive aggressive bullying of staff going on at the moment.redwomble wrote:DOM gave us a semi-serious speech this morning saying that sickness in the company is now so high that in two weeks they won't be able to pay us anymore and we'll be working for free just to keep the company afloat.

Managers 'misinterpretating' the sick absence procedure, misquoting ' the government advice,' forgetting ' to brief the staff on the latest coronavirus position. Telling the new starts they don't get sick pay. Not sending staff home if they're sick and reporting self isolating as the flu.
Branches are getting reports on a daily basis of all this s**t.
It's a symptom of the top down bullying culture in the business, delivery office managers are terrified of failure and being ridiculed on the conference call. It's a shitshow of incompetence, people dying and they're worried about mail failing, what a bunch of spineless losers.

Haven't heard this from our DOM yet. Apparently he's going to be talking to staff tomorrow
I work afternoon shift and 3 managers told me the same. They'd just come from some meeting or other and they looked annoyed
Told me the business is running out of money and can only keep going for another 2 weeks
I'm not convinced that it's true but we'll all be told in the next day or 2 I guess.
I'd be willing to bet what'll happen is, "We can only keep the business running if staff are willing to take a pay cut or hours cut" ......or something.
Not suggesting ANY of this is true, just passing on what I've been told and my own personal guess at what will happen

I seriously doubt they can make us work for free. Although I can understand more flexibility required which is totally fine however has to be paid for accordingly. In the event of stopping pay it will be better just to go off sick knowing you wont get a penny anyway. I doubt it will happen.
Royal Mail does not seem to be troubled. Instead I can see a spike in parcel delivery in our DO so there should be more revenue coming in now. Obviously sick pay will sky rocket in due course but this is should not affect ability to pay wages. DOM dropping rumours like this should get sacked for messing with peoples heads.
