Has that really not happened yet? (I'm in isolation, so out of the loop besides this forum). I recall hitting every door with a leaflet about Swine Flu a decade ago and that looked like hysterical overreaction in hindsight.norris9 wrote:But, maybe the government might put out leaflets about coronavirus for us to deliver?

-I have delivered chocolates before.
-Those boxes of nuts or whatever (Graze boxes) are common too.
-We also deliver MyProtein type stuff.
-We also deliver alcohol.
I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that chocolate, booze and protein supplements for the roid heads are all nonessential food items!

Spend a couple of weeks just eating vitamin tablets and see how that goes! They are not essentially food. Today I've been mainly delivering clothing from catalogues, trainers from Ebay, low quality tools from China. A woman who came to the door saying she was showing symptoms on Monday still receives 3 or 4 packets a day from "Magical Crystal" and "Spirituality" type companys.norris9 wrote:-Vitamin tablets are essentially food.SpacePhoenix wrote:We already do deliver food to a degree, it's not unusual to see a few food items pass through on the Tracked

Really am feeling quite the key worker.
3 lots of D2D's being put out for next week when I left the office today. Quite a few loops on quite a few walks hadn't been covered but still.....Phelim21 wrote:Bin the d2d at this time. More important mail and parcels to be delivered

I know, but some letters/parcels have clues as to probably being a bit more important than others (NHS, DVLA, inland revenue, specsavers parcels, etc).norris9 wrote:Mark_F wrote:The question is at what point it becomes necessary (if it gets to this point) to separate the important stuff out and ensure it's delivered while putting the rest on hold.
We don't know what's inside most of the letters or parcels.
-Some people might have important documents from their bank, a house purchase that's going through, a doctor's letter....
-Some people will be ordering face masks, sanitiser, toilet roll, vitamins, medicine....
We'll start getting an influx of letters for small businesses who are trying to use some of the Gov'ts new mechanics for their businesses to survive and all that jazz.
Regardless, our office had a meeting this morning: Tracked, oversize and special parcels are currently considered priority and mail can be left...

I think we will be classed as 'key workers' even if it's only to enable the online businesses to still operate in some capacity.

They have to draw the line somewhere with key workers otherwise there isn't much point in closing the schools, DPD deliver a lot of important stuff, so do Yodel etc. Dominoes pizza deliver food, that's important. We deliver some important stuff but do we need key worker status to keep delivering it?Joe B wrote:I think we will be classed as 'key workers' even if it's only to enable the online businesses to still operate in some capacity.

I think because we do deliver 'some' important things such as online pharmacy prescriptions among other things, that will mean we'll still operate all be it on a restricted basis. Depending on how long this will go on for and also any potential 'lockdown' situation, I can see us still delivering unimportant parcels to help boost morale.Woody Guthrie wrote:They have to draw the line somewhere with key workers otherwise there isn't much point in closing the schools, DPD deliver a lot of important stuff, so do Yodel etc. Dominoes pizza deliver food, that's important. This is the list I saw posted on another forum today. The poster said it was from an Email sent to them by their daughters school. They also said BOTH parents have to be keyworkers if it’s not a single parent family.
No idea how accurate this is so please don’t shoot the messenger if it turns out to be wrong.

• Teachers and school support staff
• Police and community support officers
• Frontline civilian police staff
• Prison officers and staff

• Care workers
• Food/supermarket drivers and other workers

Just a tiny bit of clarification (no list yet). If just one of you is a key worker your kids still go to school according to Boris.

We are considered key, under communications apparently. Rather bizarrely in 2020, in my opinion.

I'm looking at this list and it covers a hell of a lot of people especially if only one member of your family needs to be a key worker.
I think they're hoping that a lot of people only use this facility if they genuinely have no other option. That might be a little optimistic.
Can the schools cope or will Monday be a bit messy?
Also I think you're supposed to contact your employer to ask whether your role is crucial or not.
Also are the schools going to ask for proof?
Also lots of other alsos....
