Diabetics to self isolate for 12 weeks
Is this true. I would have thought a high percentage of posties would fall into this category. Things would grind to a halt you would think.
I did read it courtesy of the Sun mind you. Risk no.4

Diabetics to self isolate for 12 weeks
Asthmatics as well could be advised to do the same, some doctors have advised it, however it's not a directive from the government, but I can see it happening soon.

Will be interesting to see what the situation is - my partner has type 1 diabetes, and we live in a tiny house so if she has to isolate it means I’m on the sofa. Even then, when I’m making tea etc I run the risk of passing anything on from my deliveries. So I wonder if I’m meant to isolate for 12 weeks too.
Hoping our government gives us more news in the days ahead.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Anyone with underlying health issues, of which diabetes is one. Probably to be announced on Friday along with over 70’s.

I'm type 1 diabetic. Apparently the idea is that if you require a free flu jab annually (which I do) then you should self isolate for 12 weeks. Hopefully more clarity on friday but as stated earlier, there isn't a government directive to do so yet, just the suggestion. So it's "Get it took" tomorrow morning for me

We are advising those who are at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) to be particularly stringent in following social distancing measures.viking1488 wrote:they have been tolddoorstepped wrote:Asthmatics as well could be advised to do the same, some doctors have advised it, however it's not a directive from the government, but I can see it happening soon.
This group includes those who are:

chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
chronic kidney disease
chronic liver disease, such as hepatitis
chronic neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), a learning disability or cerebral palsy
diabetes
problems with your spleen – for example, sickle cell disease or if you have had your spleen removed
a weakened immune system as the result of conditions such as HIV and AIDS, or medicines such as steroid tablets or chemotherapy
being seriously overweight (a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above)
those who are pregnant

I think diabetics are more at risk than any other category according to this article.

Good advice for Type 2 diabetics: I became Type 2 diabetic after retiring. I wasn't getting the exercise I used to when working and I was going to the pub most evenings for 3 or 4 pints and a pub meal which usually included chips.yorkychris wrote:I think diabetics are more at risk than any other category according to this article.

I put on 14 lbs in 12 months and was told I was Type 2 Diabetic after a routine blood test. I cut out sugary and starchy carbohydrate foods (and beer), walked a lot, and lost over 30 lbs in 3 months. I went back into the non-diabetic blood range. Since then my weight has crept up again, but I am still 20 lbs lighter than at my heaviest, and my blood sugar level is not in the diabetic range.

I am Type-1 Diabetic. Union rep thinks I should maybe be staying at home, DOM says I should be at work unless I show symptoms. Its all very vague.

The whole point of you staying at home, is so you don't catch it. If you catch it you could end up very I'll. My uncle today told me his boss told him too stay at home for 12 weeks because hes being tested for diabetes.postman_d wrote:I am Type-1 Diabetic.
