The USO wasn't written by God.
It's null and void in an emergency scenario.

It'd still have to be stored in DOs as MCs won't have the room to store it. RM would need to get OFCOM to change the USO before it could happen anyway
Do you honestly think all this crap is going to keep coming when we go into full lockdown?
Who's going to be holding a massive final furniture sale ends Tuesday in these circumstances?

That takes me back.
Haven't seen DFS in our area for at least 10 years.
Used to come in boxes for every door but completely unsorted.
Happy days.. not.

I would say we are an essential service and so we will carry on as long as we are fit to do so. In an extraordinary situation we will help to hold onto some semblance of ordinary life. The alternative is that everything goes down the toilet and we almost end up at year zero. Capitalism is arguably a broken system but if we were to move to a different system then this virus would not be an ideal method to facilitate it.

If the scenario arises where we are not classed as key workers and goodness knows how many posties have to go off to look after their children, who's going to cover their shifts?

Retail workers surely?

I doubt we'll be on it unless were tasked with delivering food.

We already do deliver food to a degree, it's not unusual to see a few food items pass through on the Tracked

Mark_F wrote:The question is at what point it becomes necessary (if it gets to this point) to separate the important stuff out and ensure it's delivered while putting the rest on hold.

We don't know what's inside most of the letters or parcels.

-Some people might have important documents from their bank, a house purchase that's going through, a doctor's letter....

-Some people will be ordering face masks, sanitiser, toilet roll, vitamins, medicine....

The door 2 doors might as well be left, no1 will be buying anything. But, maybe the government might put out leaflets about coronavirus for us to deliver?

And then the addressed junk mail.

So if anything is going to stay behind it's likely going to just be any junk mail, but I'd assume we'd still deliver it anyway as we'll still be going to those houses. Just maybe the addressed junk mail can be delayed if it's the only thing for that house.

-We also deliver MyProtein type stuff.
-We also deliver alcohol.

The amount we deliver makes it irrelevant.
All that can be done by the supermarket chains much more efficiently.

Unless they radically change what we do we're not essential in times like these.
