Not sure I’d want to rely on words like “expect” and “vast majority” in a court to get my job back.POSTMAN wrote:No, why would you, it's in the red text. Its about as clear as mud and some of it will stick and some of it won't.
The vast majority of coronavirus absences to be discounted from the normal attendance procedure
So what would be needed for the coronavirus absence to be discounted?? Do they want some sort of proof that you have tested positive for CV19?? Maybe bring in used swabs as evidence? Or are managers expected to issue staff with routine stage warnings if they have taken government guidelines to 'self-isolated' for 7 days or more because they thought they had one or two of the symptoms but couldn't get the overstretched NHS nurses/doctors round to get them tested as they weren't exactly dying on the floor with respiratory failure?

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If that happens, it would be ironic if you infect the manager forcing you to workEdRush wrote:So Royal Mail's answer is just a typical double edged sword, scaremongering employees into Presenteeismssdd wrote:And you may be infecting people before you even show symptoms:EdRush wrote:Even if you have recovered from covid-19 it is unclear whether you can be reinfected, or relapse.

What they could have said is:
“Absences due to employees following current government advice will not be counted as part of a stage”.
They know they could have said that.
They didn’t.

So how would that work then.
The entire world....the planet is on lockdown due to a virus.
In Royal Mail land, some snotty (parden the pun) nosed screw who has just come off the sick ( cause they will get it!) and he's sitting there with a pile of stage warnings, so we really think, and I know they are thick as s**t normally, but do we think that they will realistically sack someone or give out the said warnings out.
I'm no expert far from it, it just aint gonna happen in my tiny little mind
I agree about their wordings, there are so many would, could, might, possibly, maybe, if's, buts in our agreements, they are c***s for it.
Cause of the stress of this you guys who are on the limit may need to go higher for assurance.
Good luck

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The point is, they’ve purposely allowed scope for low level management to have people believe they might have it counted towards a stage.
And they will. Simple as that.

According to the management update the only cases that may be investigated are multiple isolation cases and cases where people have self isolated longer than the government guidelines.
Everything else Coronavirus related will be discounted.

So it’s true to say then that if you’re deep into the stage process, and your missus gets a new cough, you don’t, you might be worried about going off as you might need to later.

To be fair if your wife has it and you're self isolating with her you'll get it. That's why they're now saying 14 days.LaggyBand wrote:So it’s true to say then that if you’re deep into the stage process, and your missus gets a new cough, you don’t, you might be worried about going off as you might need to later.

Not only would the tribunal come down like a ton of bricks on RM for this, but it's a PR disaster in the making.
I get that RM management isn't always 100% up front and honest but I think they have no choice to honour this stance.

I agree it’s almost certain no one is getting sacked for having the virus.
What I’m saying is as a result of the wording, people worried about going off, people that don’t read these forums and are in the know, won’t be told clearly “it won’t trigger a stage”.
Instead, they’ll be told “you *should* be fine.

What seems the best thing to do while we are in this situation, is to see your manager with your query, regardless of what it is.
Then completely ignore what they have told you and come one here and seek guidance.
Ok I'm being scarcstic and possibly dangerous asking you to ignore them but these dicks seem to be in excessive dick mode. They are a joke.
