I didn't get mine. Would of saved me the embarrassment, when I had too tell the person I was delivering the sd too, that their special was about 5 doors down by now.

Without access to hand washing facilities regularly whilst delivering these measures are a waste of time.A doctor told me that when I was explaining why we had to leave parcels at his doorstep yesterday morning.

Yes, a complete waste of time!

If you have the virus and cough on be on the parcel*, THE VIRUS WILL BE ON THE PARCEL* and therefore it's irrelevant if you leave it 2 meters or 2 miles away.

You've then just got to hope the next person to touch the parcel* doesn't die

Well, to be fair. If you have a cough you should be self-isolating and not going to work coughing on parcels.

I actually disagree about the effectiveness of the measures. In the last few months I've frequently delivered to people that are at home suffering from the flu, they come to the door looking like death warmed up, coughing and spluttering, and we literally have to wait at the door, while they cough and splutter all over the PDA, snot dripping from their nose, they always take ages to sign for things when they're ill... then we handle the PDA and pass it on to the next customers. Avoiding that is certaintly going to reduce the risk of picking up the virus off people that are at home ill.

In truth, I've had more colds and flu from working at Royal Mail than all my other jobs combined. And i'd say exposure to ill people is the biggest factor in that.

It's not what's going on outside that's the problem, you do have a certain amount of control over that. By RM emphasising best current practice with 'signed fors' they are deflecting things away from the real problem that is indoors.

Staff in MCs, RDCs and very large DOs are probably at most risk (more staff in the same space). Don't know if IMP, CFC, iLSM and CSS operators would be at the most risk (possibly from Cornavirus particles being mixed in with paper dust)

Used to get one for your 20 years service. Now I understand the thinking behind it.

To all those posties worried about Coronavirus.
Most frames and work surfaces in your depot have never seen an antibacterial wipe.
Bags are 5+ year old and have never been cleaned despite being on thousands of doorsteps hence why most stink.
Van's, self explanatory, most have never been cleaned inside.
Pda, never once seen any being cleaned.
Drop bags and letter trays, been handled by thousands, do they ever get cleaned.
No toilet or washing facilities while on duty. But expected to eat/drink in van.
Touch hundreds of gate latches, railings, letter boxes each day.
That's before we even hand over a pda or parcel over to a customer.
Are we at risk of catching Coronavirus, you bet your ass we are. Will we even notice we've caught it, probably not. We must catch dozens of colds and viruses every year. Our immune systems must be some of the strongest out there.

Should our customers worry about coming into contact with us. Well that's a different story. We're walking time bombs.

OMG it's a virus which is a part of a group of viruses (coronavirus) which has been around or should I say discovered in the 1960's it hasn't just appeared!, it/they cause mild respiratory infections after a slightly high temperature in humans!, in animals it has different symptoms but it's all from the same virus mutation, 80% of humans will just have these symptoms some might have a rougher time but more importantly like the many experts say the vulnerable (people who have medical conditions) and the elderly we have to make sure that they are WELL cared for socially and obviously medically so they are number 1 priority which is what we should be doing every year when all these different viruses (flu, norovirus etc) hit us like they have been doing for decades yes there is no vaccination as yet but that's no doubt coming sooner rather than later so just do as the health authority's say and practice good hygiene and it will pass all this totally stupid panic buying nonsense and I'm sure all us sensible people out there (and there is a lot of us) can make sure the vulnerable amongst us can be given priority in our sensible actions hysteria help nobody
