I had a recently new recruit out with me today and she was worried because they don’t get sick pay for the first year so she is stressing about it. Also when I delivered a recorded to one of my usual customers this afternoon he looked like death warmed up coughing and spluttering, I think it’s only a matter of time that it spreads like wildfire amongst RM staff. It’s not fair that the new guys will have the added stress of not getting paid and it also means they will come into the office and share it with everyone else because they can’t financially afford not to get paid.

I had refused to let a bloke handle my PDA because he licked his fingers having had a burger in his hand and needing to sign for something this week. It was awkward but it was only because i watched him do it. If he had done it behind the door I would have been none the wiser. Think about that!

We should also look to protect our newer colleagues from this stress and risk to themselves and us. Normal "norms" when it comes to sickness procedure should be suspended. That means no stages for going sick with this. No harassing to come back to work. Once this thing is in the network we are in big trouble. Whatever can be done to mitigate large scale sickness should be allowed. Suspension of signed for products is a start with the potential for notice left collection on all packets.

Been back to the same address this morning with another parcel, no answer then a shout from the bedroom window to leave it at the front door as they have been advised to isolate. Ffs some guidance from management wouldn’t go amiss.

For this reason alone is it not time to start to sign for things on behalf of customer? Never mind the risk to us, we could have upto 80 people handling the PDA everyday so we could spread it to our customers quickly too.

However, as a precautionary measure, deliveries will be made by non-contact means: All mail items, including registered mail, insured letter-post items and parcels, will be deposited in mailboxes, with a notice signed by the postman/woman, informing the recipient of this temporary measure. If the addressee is absent or refuses to accept this method of delivery, the postman/woman will leave a specific form (notice of delivery) and instructions in the recipient’s mailbox, enabling the recipient to collect the item from a post office. Any items rejected by the addressee will be returned to sender.

That is something we should be implementing now. Better to be proactive than reactive when its too late.

what is it with people your told to keep your hands clean and in my office hardly anyone is doing it i cant get my head around this are they just a bit thick ignorant or just a case of this wont happen to me you wash your hands not just to protect yourself your doing this to protect everyone and try and stop this spreading the managers are just as bad for not putting this point across to everyone like most things in rm you might as well just bang your head against a wall or talk to it
