very true rm just dont give a toss about us well on there head be it if this gets bad offices close people will have to self-isolate and people in delivery cant even wash there hands some i think dont even know what a bar of soap is there is a good chance this covid 19 will end up in a delivery office near you soon its just a matter of time while rm bury there heads in the sand and unlike they say in that rm tv the virus can live for up to 12 hours on a surface so your pda might need a clean and inside most vans which some are a utter disgrace need i go on we are at risk whatever royal mail say.....ive heard people say they have not got time to wash there hands thats utter bollocks or they cant do it when there out on delivery its not rocket science to take a few things with you like some hand wash some water and a towel just try and keep things clean it only takes minutes to wash them hands make time

According to the WHO the Coronavirus may be capable of living on a hard surface for either a few hours or even a few days.

Do your PDA, keys and log book get a wipedown when handed to you in the morning? Do you wipe down your van-share colleagues keys and PDA when handing them on? Has all your mail and packets been cleaned between IPS and you handling them? Do you wipe down your PDA before handing it to a customer? Does the customer ensure they've cleaned their hands before handling it and then wipe it down before handing it back?

Nice to see the RM network spreading Coronavirus through the nation. 16 Billion items handled every year they like to remind us on their van-side advertising!

Now of course it's almost impossible to disinfect every letter and parcel but the fact that there is no proactive push on the shop-floor to hand out basic sanitising products even to just wipe down the PDA's between use and clean hands on delivery is a clear sign that they are not taking it seriously.

Hand wipes,gel,gloves. NON OF THAT IN OUR OFFICE.Had the the advice letter dumped on our desks.Non communication from manager or union.Just the same old s**t just different day.

guys its simple, provide your own gloves, get some antibac wipes for a quid to wipe the van/pda over, then tell the customer your gonna sign for them due to the obvious.

I don't even know how washing our hands is going to help....

We touch doors, door handles, railings, letters, parcels, elastic bands, PDA's, keys, post boxes, vans, steering wheels.....

It would be ridiculous to wash your hands after everything you touch, and even if you wash your hands every 10 minutes, you will touch something that's got the virus on it, then touch your PDA or steering wheel, then wash your hands, then you will touch the steering wheel or PDA again which has the virus on it. It's impossible.

What we need is to be told we can sign for everything. Do not let any customer touch the PDA's. I think that's the main thing that needs to be done.

Hand washing obviously won't hurt, but I feel like it's a lost cause. Just avoid touching your face.

A lot of the PDAs in our office have lost their styluses over the past few years and never been replaced. The customers have been advised to simply use their finger on the PDA screens. Now more than ever is the time for our office admin staff to get their act together and replace the missing styluses.

UPDATE: The virus has been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the English issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when they were threatened by the Spanish Armada.

* The Scots have raised their threat level from “P*ssed Off” to “Let's Get the Bastard.” They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front lines of the British army for the last 300 years.

* The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

* Italy has increased their alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.”
