Deliver to neighbour/safe place

Post by twoloops »

Just read RoyalMailHelp on Twitter the thousands of daily complaints they get when you think you may be helping the customer out, if they are not in it goes back, no neighbors, no safe place, you keep your job, plus it’s a win, win, win they might stop ordering shite :nana

It puts the postie in a compromising position, I haven’t heard of anyone being conducted over it and I would refuse to accept it anyway as it is now royal mails policy to do it .
It was the Union who got the 'deliver to neighbour' policy put in place if I remember correctly. The reason being it does take more time and thus should offset the decline in letters....if you use it! Same with lightweight trolleys.

But carry on...don't use the methods of delivery, but don't wonder why RM are coming for your hours!

I don't deliver to neighbour unless there's a note on the door instructing me to do so or the neighbour comes out & offers to take it.

An alternative to signing for a recorded is to put it through without scanning it.still not allowed but I'd rather do that than sign for it myself as I think you would get into less bother.but a p739 is still the best option Joe public won't care if your in trouble or not for signing there stuff for them.

Ah that reminds me of the good old days,on my 1st day the guy showing me round said just peel the sticker off if you can't be arsed.

I have people on my round who work from home and have told me not to disturb them to leave parcels, yet my DOM is instructing me to knock.

I also have people on my round who are happy to go to our depot to pick up their personal items, yet my DOM is instructing me to try a neighbour.

Is this RM's plan to shut down offices as collection points?
Next time the Dom insists on delivery to neighbour ask him to show where they have built the time into your duty for you to do so

Been on rural duty for over 5 years so i know which neighbors to try. Try not to bring back any parcel (apart from specials) i know whose in so takes me less time knocking on door rather than filling a card out and carrying parcel for rest of my loop.
However having done most rounds in my office, people in villages are lot more open and trustworthy in taking neighbour's parcels in.
All that happens when my day off cover cards an address is they ask for a redelivery which is a ball ache!

What ever you do or dont do the managers know by looking at your PDA data so its not a secret. As someone has said the longer we are out there the less chance of losing jobs the more work we get the better i cant understand why you would do a delivery job then complain that you get lots of packets to deliver.

Here here! It's anything for an easy life for some, but their actions are already coming back to bite them, and the rest of us.
The managers that have been referred to earlier in this post actually sound as though they have a bit of savvy about them.

I don't think anyone is complaining about delivering parcels.

What's being said is we are getting pissed off about having to harass neighbours to take in parcels when they clearly don't want to take them!
Agreed, it is becoming more of an issue.

I know many customers that get multiple parcels most days, and are never at home. The neighbours used to willingly take them in, now I'm frequently getting, "uuuhhhh I guess I can". This includes addresses where there are notes on the door to leave with a particular neighbour, they've used up all the goodwill because people just order so much online nowadays.

At the end of the day, our service is utter s**t if we cannot actually deliver parcels. And it's becoming a more and more a frequent occurrence that I have to p739 10-20 packets per day (or more), if I were to follow royal mail's rules to the letter, that number could be double...
