The LAT hubs will have to send their own vans to collect it from the MCs. Either that or it arrives in time to make the main/final dispatch to DOs otherwise it'll fail
The idea is that it won't go near an MC, it will go directly from the superhub to the LAT office.

It can't come on a normal dispatch, there's no capacity either in vehicle space or physical space in the DO during normal operation.
The plan is for the work to arrive 10-11am.

What does that mean; segregation solutions? Who's gonna do the LAT for a rural address? Or will rural duties be changed to a later start? Who'll do the 1pm specials?
It means they want to exclude rural duties from parcel separation entirely and leave them alone because obviously it makes no sense to send two guys out into the middle of nowhere.

It means that the huge parcel sortation machines that will be installed in the superhubs will have to be capable of rejecting items (for the rurals) down to individual postcode level.
Do you know what the planned time is for Larger and LAT traffic to arrive in DOs?

Ours have been doing that for a while. Usually it is someone consigned to 'light duties' or, beating that, a manager (if you can tell the difference).

Exactly! It's going to arrive later. So, potentially, ALL rural duties would move to a later start time if these so called 'segregation solutions' are employed, in order that they will be able to deliver the LATs also.

I wonder how many rural duties there are that are outwith one of the LAT hubs, and who's going to get the LATs to the rural drivers? Or are they by some superhuman feat going to arrive earlier in the rural locations? Something isn't adding up here!

More likely that anyone living in a rural area is going to be negatively affected going forward under this strategy i.e. they wont get that parcel next day( unless special of course).

The only way this might work is by the amalgamation of a lot more DOs into superDOs in a different location. No mention of that yet, and would require more investment with longer travelling times on duties.

You only have to look at what the other couriers are doing to see where RM want to take us. At least the CWU are looking at ways we could be more innovative and outstanding.

Royal Mails plan it to have yearly resigns
No Royal Mail's plan is to have yearly revisions, nobody said anything about resigns.
They can have all the revisions they like will not make us work faster for the shares to rise enough to pay the corporate pig from Hamburg and tricky Dicky etl salary bonus shares these parasites who thrive upon us all hard workers!

I think the amalgamation of DOs into super-DOs will happen anyway, just think of how many DOs can't handle a 17ton lorry. I can see RM eventually wanting all MC-DO runs being done by 17ton lorries

As the work coming off are all large parcels and on the driver loops surely the 200 delivery points will be put on the driver loops and us passengers will be unaffected!! :nana

How will the segregation for rurals work when these super hub machines only have 400 selections ,300 for the parcel hubs and 100 for mail centre etc?

That’s what I was wondering. If I’m the driver and do the big parcels I will be copping the extra delivery points. How can the passenger be given more delivery when they are taking nothing off of Him?

Im not sure if you two are being sarcastic but just incase you are not they could easily consolidate the driver and the walkers frames, add the extra time and then divide by two. It's hardly rocket science.

Ha you must be in an office where the driver loops are planned correctly so they have time to do parcels! Our office most the loops are about even between the driver and walker anyway. Delivery im on at the moment four of the six driver loops are actually slightly longer than the walkers!

I don't understand why RM are employing people who do not have current driving licences unless it's people taken on decades ago. Vans always come with two keys in our DO on the shared walks so both posties can do parcels if one or the other gets back to the van first etc.
If your DO is affected by the new strategy changes, and I get the feeling there won't be any exceptions, then every walk will get about another hours worth of work if not more. I realise this addition will almost certainly be more than any time saved but this is their plan.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

You're not supposed to share the driving.
When you sign the log book and do your vehicle checks it is you who is taking responsibility for the security and roadworthiness of the vehicle not your partner.

It's an offence under the road traffic act to allow members of staff to drive the vehicle without first completing a vehicle check and signing a control sheet (log book). That's every time the vehicle changes hands.

What happens if your partner runs a red light?
You will be responsible for the fine.
What happens if your partner has an accident and bends the van?
Your name is in the log book, your responsibility.
What happens if your partner sticks both of you into a tree?
You will receive no compensation because your name is on the log book and you should have been driving.

And what's the only argument for doing it, it saves time....
