100 redundancies on early and night shift only. Letters to be sent out tomorrow and people will leave on 29th March, only four weeks away. All people going are volunteers who expressed an interest before, some mention of pilon. All will be full time. Rob whatever his name is (mcm) said it was his call and that Royal Mail had been waiting too long already. Local CWU have said that ballot papers will be sent out 4th March for our own strike. Paranoia is full on about shift time changes, forced full time to part time. I think we have become a bit of a target with two packets machines and strong union. Rico has won here really, as you can only get one days strike in before the 100 leave. People will be f**king livid though, and will back the national strike.

Are any managers being made redundant? Or just frontline? Being totally honest, there are far to many of them.

Are they still offering the same terms for VR? I know a few in my area that would jump at the chance of VR if offered.

Question was asked about managers going as well but mcm didn't answer. Same in Bristol. Each manager seems to have another manager or two who do their job for them. They occasionally have to do it all on their own, the odd week in the year, but they get too tired and then go off sick in protest. Hierarchy rules with the substantive manager having a 1 hour 20 minute break and the coach manager having 40 minutes.

Bristol Mail Centre ballot for local strike called off so as not to jeopardize national ballot chances. 43 unagreed redundancies to go ahead by executive action by end of March. Management now free to go ahead with anything they please. Install the clocking in/out, track around the building. Do it here first. Change shift times. Get rid of early shift. Realignment of staff based on favouritism. Move out large packets. Hire more managers. Have another 60 redundancies. No opposition here we will accept anything.
