Hi there
Currently applied for this job but would need more hours, can't find this contract mentioned on here so far so usual question is as only a covering job how likely is it that I can get Extra hours? Giving up a council job where I have 35 hr contract been there 16 years but pension would be reduced by 40%! If I take early now at 55! So only option is leave it where it is and hope I get the Hours at royal mail.thanks guys .

You can get overtime but that`s not a guarantee.
If you`ll deliver a full walk you might do 5 hours a day, if you deliver more or do the prep in the morning you might get more.
Depending on the office you can get overtime as a collection driver or in callers office or if you deliver extra loops or parcels.
After one year in the job, you`ll pay 6% or more if you wish in RM`s pension plan and RM will pay 10%, that`s the only good thing at the moment,
If you read this forum we are all going through changes and hard times are coming.
You can also find all sorts of good advices / experiences on this forum about the job.

Why leave the job you have?
I'd take 35hrs with the council over 20 with a RM
Overtime is not guaranteed.....if you can't get by on the 20hrs wage then it's a very big gamble especially after 16 years at the council.
