Never got that rule. So if you're Wednesday off that week you get two days off without loss of pay , if you're Saturday off, you only get one day off for the same pay. Of course as well as xmas day.Crap.doorstepped wrote:we should be given Sat 26th as a non service day if previous years are to go by, however if your day off falls on this day you DO NOT gain a day back in Lieu sadly.
everyone will get the day off and get paid for it, so you can't claim twice for it. Bank Holidays ie: Monday 28th of December, you can claim your day in lieu for this as it is callassed as a Bank Holiday.

Surely it can't stand that those that have the Saturday off are expected to work a day more than everyone else?

If the 26th was a normal service day that would mean anyone working nights would have to go to work Christmas Day evening! Would love to see them try to enforce that.

I think the only real question will be will the 'no clawback' agreement still be honoured?
We'll get the day off but will it cost us a day's annual leave?

it's pot luck if they do make it a non service day, so yes if it's your scheduled day off you don't gain a free day off, same can be said with snow dayshermesetas wrote:Surely it can't stand that those that have the Saturday off are expected to work a day more than everyone else?

They could make people take it as annual leave if they wanted but they'd probably have had to decide to do that before allocating next year's holiday, which they haven't. So we should be safe.Woody Guthrie wrote:I think the only real question will be will the 'no clawback' agreement still be honoured?

They would more likely deduct it from the following year's allocation. The same way that a day off falling on a bank holiday can be credited to the following year but not added automatically to the current year.DGH wrote:They could make people take it as annual leave if they wanted but they'd probably have had to decide to do that before allocating next year's holiday, which they haven't. That and the alternative option of losing a day's pay.

Any staff who work nights will be in overnight (28th into the 29th) as the mail will have to be processed ready for deliveries on the 29th.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: Monday 28 December Due to Boxing Day on Saturday No collections or deliveries
Tuesday 29th will probably be VERY HEAVY as there's going to potentially be 4 days worth of postings in the system overnight on the Monday (plus there will be all the deferred mail as well)
