"Executive action", is this one of the new buzz phrases like "business needs" and "mails down". Means they can do anything they want.
What else is new, been doing it for years.

That is great advice but what does it mean for the people who are doing that but still finishing 60/90/120 minutes early?
A few in our office always finish early, not because duty piss easy. But because of "indoor lapsing".
Job and finish is still rife in many offices.
They run around like mad, doorstep, sign for items. People getting sacked if they get caught, even though its actively encouraged by management. They just wont learn.
And trollies lol. Would love to see figures on how many are actually used. Considering many offices only own 1 or 2
Is it any wonder RM think all these hours can be saved with clocking machines. If people ever finally wake up, bullying is gonna go through the roof.

Exactly :Applause

The workers have done the vast majority of the damage that's coming themselves and they still don't learn.

More work and nothing wrong with that.

If there is work for them to do on that day.

Could mean loss of pay or having to pay the time back at a time that suits Royal Mail with no advanced warning and they won’t care about any commitments you have outside work. Plenty wrong with that.

If you have a finite amount of work (or even diminishing) and some people do more work simple maths means that's fewer jobs or less hours for part--time staff, while it might be inevitable it's not something I'm prepared to celebrate.

They will be taking my lapse. At the moment they are getting paid extra for it but in future that might not be the case. They may arrive back at the depot and be told that they are not allowed to leave until all the mail's gone out. If they prefer to sit and wait I'm sure management may then find them some indoor work to do instead like prepping a few D2Ds for someone or move some Yorke's outside.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
