My P739 makes even more noise, they can hear me outside their door pulling one out of the pocketMr Rush wrote:P739 cards make a hell of a noise when they land on the mat. Customers who give you funny looks when opening door
It's the people that try to help by opening their door while you are posting through it that get on my nerves the most as they are more common than the moody types.
You're not even struggling, you are simply doing your job of posting through a letterbox which takes seconds and the customer opens their door to 'help'. You are left in that awkward scenario, door opened, post stuck in the letterbox as you didn't get to push it through cos some numpty decided opening the door would help you, you are left with the remaining 1 or 2 letters in your hand which you pass over to the customer and you leave them to yank out the post stuck in the letterbox....
So how did that help me?
Also, when posting through letterboxes you are usually in a strained position which makes it even more irritating when they open their door as you have to quickly change position from a slightly hunched, tensed body and constipation face to a standing up straight, relaxed body and smiley face. And in that moment you feel the energy drain from your body like when you have a heavy bag on your back and you squat down to post through those brass letterboxes at the bottom of doors....you feel as if energy is depleting from your entire body in an instant.

I'd be tempted to just keep the constipation face in that scenarionorris9 wrote:It's the people that try to help by opening their door while you are posting through it that get on my nerves the most as they are more common than the moody types.

Going off track a little. I hate it when you have a old pensioner doing the gardening with their back to you and more than likely deaf. I find my self stood there trying to work out how I'm going to get their attention, without giving them a heart attack and killing them.
Also the people who open the door to go out and they don't know you're there and they s**t themselves

Haha. This happens at least once or twice a day. Most laugh it off. Some look at you as if you have done it on purpose. Im sure iv shaved a few years off some peoples lives though.CPTNemoUK wrote: Also the people who open the door to go out and they don't know you're there and they s**t themselves

Had a parcel, long and thin enough, just, to go through letter box. Knocked on the door, no answer, so pushed, with a little effort, the parcel through the letterbox, halfway through the door suddenly opened quickly, I then handed the parcel to the occupant with the letterbox still attached..

The ones who are on the phone when they answer. Why don’t they say got to go someones at the door I’ll phone you back? But no, they try to do two things at once and end up making a hash of everything, apologise to the person on the phone then look at me like its my fault??? Do one.

Was it one of those Specsaver parcels? They're great sliding through a letter slot... unless there's one of those infuriating letter cages on the other side.malcdj wrote:Had a parcel, long and thin enough, just, to go through letter box.

Ha, ha, ha! I know it looks very strange and though of it many times. I soon realised that, a lot of the times women customers usually have a dog behind them and they're trying to stop it from making a run for the open air. Men usually leave the door wide open and then you see them holding a dog's collar with one hand while taking the mail you hand them with the other.wacko74 wrote:It's the (always) women who insist on hiding behind the door and only opening it about half an inch to try and take the parcel off you that puzzle me every time.

Why do they make them so small. Larger post, like magazines, don't fit so they just end up sticking out of the letterbox.PostmanBitesDog wrote:... unless there's one of those infuriating letter cages on the other side.

I've found they soon find a solution if you 739 for a magazine......especially if it's a Screwfix catalogue....norris9 wrote:Why do they make them so small. We regularly have surcharge cards to deliver and isn't it amazing how the customer will come out and ask you....what's this?? At times I feel like I'm a small time postal warden that has just slipped a card with a hefty fine of £1.22 through the customer's door.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

The helpful "I fit most letterboxes!" note jinxes any possibility that the item will, in fact, fit.malcdj wrote:Had a parcel, long and thin enough, just, to go through letter box.
The machine stops.
