Ellie Goulding among drivers who comes to rescue of motorist 'T-boned' by Royal Mail lorry

The singer said she was shocked that the first instinct of other drivers was to start filming on their phones and shout abuse.

Singer Ellie Goulding came to the rescue of a driver whose car was "T-boned" by a Royal Mail lorry on a busy dual carriageway in London.

Video footage circulating on social media shows a Volkswagen GTi being pushed sideways for hundreds of yards down Western Avenue on the A40 by the delivery vehicle.

Other cars can be heard honking their horns to get the attention of the driver.

The lorry driver eventually stops, and drivers shout at him: "What the f*** are you doing man?!"

The driver looks shocked to discover the car in front of his truck and claimed he was unaware it was there.

"I didn't see him, I honestly didn't see him," he shouts in the clip.

He later tells the driver of the car: "Let's pull over and I can explain."

Goulding, 32, told her fans on Instagram that her chauffeur, Guy, was one of the motorists who stopped to help.

She said she also checked on the driver of the car.

"On a side note, I can't believe the first instinct of the other drivers who got out was to instantly start filming on their phones and shout abuse at the poor shocked driver, not even checking the other driver was okay. What on earth," she wrote on Instagram.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "We are very concerned about this incident. We sincerely hope that no one was hurt. We are investigating as a matter of urgency."

The driver of the Royal Mail delivery truck cab said he did not realise the car was there either blind or off his head on drugs or pissed god give me strength he needs the sack hope the old bill chuck the book at him idiot he could of killed somebody

drivers like this should be off the road end of story

At that height in the cab you wouldn't see, if it were not for the mirrors. Since 2007 commercial vehicles have been required to be fitted with 'blind spot' mirrors. In this case, it would be how he didn't see the car in his front mirror, or close proximity mirrors. He also wouldn't feel it. It would be like a crisp packet blowing onto the front of your HCT. Lesson learned: Don't cut up an HGV driver.

so that car is going down the road sideways making no noise get a grip you would know if you where pushing a car down the road oh so no impact noise either the guy is a first class plank

Speed limit at 40 mph on A40 Western Way / Westway between Hanger Lane and Edgware road and that truck looks like the is going a lot faster than that in the clip

There is a blind spot mirror in front of the van, got the feeling the driver was day dreaming otherwise he would notice the bump and the car driver for trying cut him off.

Both at fault I would say.

I think that's probably the case, but imagine if he has happened to glance out of his offside exterior mirror at the moment the car driver has crossed. Maybe he wouldn't see. He's got the radio turned up so can't hear anything. But he should have spotted immediately when the car was in front of him. It's all speculation at the moment.

When I did my driving assessment for the big transits it surprised me how big its blind spots are, so logically they are a lot worse in a HGV. Car probably cut up the HGV at the last minute and got caught, doubt the lorry driver would have felt it, should have been more aware of his surroundings though. Would be surprised if he didn't get sacked though.
