There is no official or unofficial policy for use of cars on delivery. In fact as they do not pay you for it why would anyone want to.

On this site we tend to be against using a private car on delivery as eventually Royal Mail will come for the extra time you save using it. This is the flexibility part of the deal I voted No to. Also if too many people use cars it can mean that your office loose a driving duty in Royal Mails avarice for saving hours and being "more efficient".

seems quite simple to me if they take you out they bring you back can't understand why you don't press them on this. as you must be due to finnish back at the office if you use the vans as they do at ours. yes i don't think for one moment they like it but the onus is on them to return you to the office see your rep

We get money back if we have to use bus to get back to office. Made a few bob out them some years ago when my uncle was bus driver and he let me on free. Always got an old ticket from back of bus to hand in. Paid more a week than those bloody door2doors we do :dance

do all you guys realise that when using your new car that you got a bank loan for and are still paying off that if you crash the car even with your first bag you are only insured 3 rd party by royal mail that is if you have even bothered to hand your documents in if you have nt then you are not insured you are insured to drive to your workplace only not to carry mail unless you have buisness insurance so if you crash royal mail will cover the damage to the other car but not yours so you may end up with a mountain of debt and nothing to show for it get in the vans that is what they are there for :no no

We will not be brought back to the office from our delivery, the dom has made that clear. I dont use my car anymore, take my breaks, start on my time and as we have no drops have to use meets. If I miss the bus that runs every hour I have to wait 40 mins for the next which means I cannot pick my kids up from school as I live 30 mins from the delivery office.
I want to take my car out even if it's just to get to a toilet but they wont let me

I do not no if this is allowable but, if you have to wait 40 minutes on your bags, can you not hand the last bag back to the driver, call the office and say that you cannot complete due to the late arrival of your bags. It is the DIM responsibility to get your bag to you on time. No one should have to work past their time if they do not want to.
