Been off one day already received a letter in the post and a phone call. Been to the doctors and been put on happy pills and given a month off. Dropped sick not off then was being told that staying home wont be good for you, why don't you come In a few hours a day to do packets. Love they are doing everything they can to help with my depression.

pretty much par for the course with RM management... Don't feel guilty about being off. I hope you find the medication helpful. I know I certainly can't be without mine, despite a few years being off and on it...CPTNemoUK wrote:Been off one day already received a letter in the post and a phone call. Yeah already been on them but a low dosage but came off them last year. Been put on a higher dosage now and not even going to give work a thought. Just going to concentrate on myself and get myself better for my sons first Christmas

Also quick update stage 3 has been avoided. I'm on sick now till the 2/Jan. Luckily just had a call from the hospital for my foot operation and it's on the 23rd. So should hopefully get both sorted and only trigger a stage 2. So that's some worry off my mind already.

If you have a condition that is likely to last longer than 12 months, which depression usually does, you may fall under what used to be called DDA (can't remember what it got changed to). You'll need to get your manager to refer you to occupational health so see if this covers you. If it does it'll mean that if you trigger any further stages with this condition they have to take this into consideration before issuing you a stage.

its now called the equality act, and from what the poster has said his depression has been going on for way over 12 months, so he should fall under that.

if you go off with depression, you could be absent for months, (incorporating your operation in 9 weeks time), and go back to work in say 3-4 months time, and you will still only go to a stage 2, as its all 1 absence.

They have already tried to get me in a couple of hours a day doing parcels. I have kindly declined there offer. Got a call from the hospital confirming my op is on the 23rd. There is no chance I will be going back before then because I now I'll end up going off sick again and triggering my stage 2.

Equality Act, that's the one.Postie45 wrote:Sugar wrote:If you have a condition that is likely to last longer than 12 months, which depression usually does, you may fall under what used to be called DDA (can't remember what it got changed to). Yes agree if they've already had it registered for over 12 months their manager should be referring them to occupational health to get this confirmed which would help alleviate any further stress and anxiety by worrying over more time off but this is royal fail and its manager can be very unsympathetic.

Very true and I'm speaking from experience with my own mental health issues being caused by managers not adhering to policies and such like and thinking they can do as they like.

supposed to give you 48hrs notice anyway. but be sure to phone them first thing on Monday morning cos you don't want to give them an excuse to stop your pay, and that's exactly what they will do if they have cause to think you ignored their letter.CPTNemoUK wrote:Has anyone got a spare time machine available? Jeez - did they send it 'Signed For'?? What a bunch of clowns - when our management want us to deliver these sort of thingsCPTNemoUK wrote:Has anyone got a spare time machine available? Next door neighbour just delivered a letter from my work asking me to come in at 9am this morning
to colleagues they send them SD with the proviso that if no answer then it is to be 'Delivered Without Signature' with management
authorisation.

It was just a hand written envelope no signature needed. I'm going to go in monday morning. See what they have too say and I will break the news to them that my op is on the 23rd.
