Can’t believe people think this is good. These agency staff are the ones Royal Mail got for when we were planning on going on strike. We are now technically training them how to do our job for when we possibly go on strike in the future. Royal Mail couldn’t turn them away because they’ve already paid the agency 000s of pounds

They also can’t turn them away because then the CWU could claim that they were employed as strike breakers. We’ve got 12 starting in our MPU on Monday (first time we’ve had casuals in 20 Christmases), no overtime for anyone, no wave 0 on the CSS machines, so they won’t be able to sequence the 7 offices we do when it gets even busier, no night sorters, no packet sorters, just an office full of staff waiting to laugh their bo***ks of when it falls apart in 2 weeks.number one wrote:Can’t believe people think this is good. This means i trained up some temps yesterday? I thought it was strange that these casually dressed guys with a manager from another office asked if i could show them how to work the Navigation / Route optimiser on the PDAs.
Told them how it works & the truth about it freezing etc and the need to reboot.
End of the day temps are people like us looking to earn food for the table. Problem is RM is allowed to employ temps and have an agency to employ them when they should be made permanent RM workers after x amount of months if the temp whats the job.
During xmas the posties tend to finish earlier than usually some days if the mail volume doesnt materialise. P/T staff start earlier and can leave the office earlier so get back earlier if not enough volume.
