not allowed to cut off at xmas

Post by thekiddykid »

We have already been notified that almost all our mail we receive from our mail centre over the christmas period will be loose (ie no walksorted) :so there Combined with our later starts and lack of sorters the words DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN keep springing to mind :d'oh! No cut offs eh...perhaps that should read NO DELIVERY AFTER THE SCHOOL HOME TIME BELL :left:

Overtime is not compulsory! Fact. It hasn't been since the Post Office split from the civil service. And whatever the lying managers tell you, it is not compulsory at Xmas either. Our branch had a similar incident years ago and this is what union HQ years told us.

I got my xmas sheet the other day asking if I was / was not willing willing to work over my time to finish my delivery. I assumed that all offices had this sheet issued at xmas time?

It also asks if you're willing to work extra hours (which i take to mean night or evening shifts) and if you are willing to work on your day off.
I'm working to my time!

As for 'reasonable overtime', I've never heard of it.
I'll be working my contracted hours over Xmas and they can go feck themselves. :chuckle

All you need to know is when you start and when you finish. There is no such thing as compulsary overtime so dont do do it. f**k em. Some of us have a life outside of RM and i intend to fill mine with play not work. See if you can find a manager fit enough to take out what you cant do. :cfo :lfo

Can you do this on an individual basis, or must it be done as an office?

If this can be done individually, what's the correct procedure in informing you dom?

This somehow seems to conflict with the later delivery start times that were introduced into our Delivery Office by Executive Action recently.

And what happend to the new driving restrictions all mail will be delivered to your office later you can only drive at 50 mph thats why you must start later bollocks have the restrictions been lifted for christmas

Look you dipsticks just get real , you start when we say, you finish when we say, it's all dictated by operational requirements. We call it "a modern flexible workforce" capable of adapting to the new competetive environment. Remember you are merely human resources ,like mechanical resources but less reliable and a tad more troublesome
