all stage interviews are ''supposedly'' taken on their own merits. manager must be of the view you didn't merit reverting back to a stage 1. wish ours was like that, because at ours they very rarely take mitigation into account, and issue regardless. she may be of the view the 5 month absence was genuine and therefore discountable. a mate of mine was off for 3 months with a dodgey ticker, then a further 6 weeks, but it wasn't issued. they didn't cut the cheese with me though … I was re-issued with a stage 1 at the drop of a hat. count yourself fortunate.

yes, hopefully there's no further comeback. I won't fully relax until 12 months have passed from the 5 month absence though, don't trust royal mail. As you say, they could have easily issued it, seems to be no consistency whatsoever between managers / offices.daveyeff wrote:all stage interviews are ''supposedly'' taken on their own merits. manager must be of the view you didn't merit reverting back to a stage 1. wish ours was like that, because at ours they very rarely take mitigation into account, and issue regardless. she may be of the view the 5 month absence was genuine and therefore discountable. a mate of mine was off for 3 months with a dodgey ticker, then a further 6 weeks, but it wasn't issued. they didn't cut the cheese with me though … I was re-issued with a stage 1 at the drop of a hat. count yourself fortunate.

I had a stage issued in feb for 2 absences totalling 17 days in jan and feb 2019 got issued a stage 1. Then recently had another absence not one word of reverting back to a stage 1. Tbh never even heard of anyone reverting back to a stage

I did, that's what I am trying to point out. I triggered one last October(2018) after 'bursting' the 14 day rule. I did the 6 months 'sentence' so I came off the stage 1, unfortunately had 3 days at end of September(2019) and they re-issued me with the stage 1. I only had a fortnight or so left of my 12 months to do then I was clear. its down to managers how good/bad they are, if they think you are 'abusing' the attendance procedure, or they think there is 'genuine' mitigation. having said that, they are supposed to treat all absence as genuine.
