At our work time yawning today and we were told about a new national management idea which will shortly come into effect
A frame has been created which will determin the size of a parcel a postman/woman must take with him/her on their round
The frame being a yellow piece of metal has a hole in the middle of it and this hole will fit a shoebox size parcel which must be taken by postpeople and not van drivers.
We said this could not work as we would not be able to fit as much letters into the post bag and would be consumnd by large parcels mainly, so we were told that in order to deal with this new proposal we would have to split the round into more bags i.e instead of say 8 bags you will now have say 12 bags. And as christmas approahes there will be no excuses as to why some packet/parcles remain backlogged .
Problem 1 , our van driver refuses to work any overtime whatsoever
Problem 2 , Management has not considered any extra cover and so we have backlog thats ever increasing
Problem 3, Many of us have now refused to work over at christmas also
Problem 4, Ours is a small delivery office , as a result we never take extra christmas staff on
Problem 5, The union have done nothing
So i really am concerned about the public not recieving their packets in time for christmas , i really do belive we cannot be expected to get all packets out on time especially with this latest development. If this happens where does this leave us , because this is very sad.

I think this is because the drivers now have less time to do packets, due to having more and more frequent timed bag drops, due wholly to the later starts. Now, if the drivers don't have time to deliver packets because of these extra bags what the f*** is going to happen when they have even more timed bags because of the extra packets the walkers are taking. The drivers are going to need a good hands free mobile with bl***y call waiting just to keep up with the phone calls from his crew to come and take docket lefts back and bring their next bags etc. This is going to severely delay both walking postmen and the drivers. The result, CUT OFFS, even more undelivered packets and bags and bags of mail failing every single day.
YIPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done who ever thought this up, must be the same bloke as Starburst.

I have had this argument about packets before:pinstripe wrote:I think this is because the drivers now have less time to do packets, due to having more and more frequent timed bag drops, due wholly to the later starts. 1. There are no bag drops
2. You start your delivery with say 2/3 largish packets per pouch
3. You don't get rid of a large proportion
4. Each packet is transferred to the following pouch
5. Witihin the matrix there is a reducing pouch weight which would be exceeded if you had all the undelivered packets in one pouch.
The odd thing is no one had heard of this gizmo until we suddenly find ourselves in deep s**t with the packets. Therefore someone knew this would happen and has come up with the idea that the willing donkeys should take it. If there was ever a reason NOT to use your car then this is it.
Does anyone know how you sort to the DBF with this thing on? I must throw some a good 15ft and thats to a full fitting - now unless these things have false hair there's not a lot of chance of me winging one in a smaller hole!

I've heard that we're to leave docket lefts at bag drops to collect on our way back. Now, we've been told that we must have secure bag drops and I've only got 1 secure place and the time lock goes off at 11.00am. I've already re-jigged my walk to take this into account against my DOM's instructions (they are meant to accommodate us by changing the times on their locks) so now they not only have to go to the expense of changing the times again, but their going to have a pile of parcels sitting as well? I think not. I've already lost the use of 2 bag drops due to the later starts, I think they want me to lose the third as well. RM cannot bully the public, though they can try. It's going to be timed bags all the way soon, more work for the drivers, less packets being delivered and quality of service, zero! Al and Adam will love it. The public perception of us, zero! Al and Adam will love it. I could go on, but it seems if it ain't broke, brake it!

large packet size
the packets the walkholders put out for the driver in our office range from a cigarete packet upwards, they are never signed off by a manager so there is a constant argument between drivers and walkholders.
the poor driver cant get the packets delivered because he or she is usually taken off his duty to go out with a failed walk, then the management in there wisdom paywalkholders overtime to take out packets the drivers cant deliver.
CAN LIFE GET ANY BETTER

larger packet sizes
The new cycles with these two rear panniers were supposed to help store any 'notice left' packets and therefore ease the burden on the packet delivery drivers...However, you always get some posties taking the p**s by putting packets onto the delivery truck that are no bigger than an egg box
Then we were told you couldn't leave your bike unattended so you had to carry your undelivered packets around with you
As for secure pouch drops then if you include under a fellas caravan parked on his drive WE HAVE LOADS IN WORCS
