I always thought it was 'help your mates out'. At Royal Mail it's basically f**k each other.
As for CWU. Pretty much useless. No, I'm not giving them that accolade. f***ing useless.

General Election 12th December
From a personal point of view the last couple of Christmases have been pretty stressful, so the thought of doing election stuff on top of the usual workload - not to mention strikes - just makes me feel even more stressed! I don’t know what our manager’s plan is at the moment, but I don’t intend to deliver any election material, at least not get paid for delivering it. In other words just work till my time. They will probably make me (and no doubt others) put them in and deliver them without payment. This will obviously result in cut-offs. If they want to move people about onto different walks then so be it. Hopefully some parties/councils may use other companies to deliver it - in the last general election (2017) The London Letterbox company delivered poll cards in our area.

RM are a just bunch of c***s and CWU are equally as bad. The former are just in it for the $$$$$$$, the latter are just useless.
I'm pretty glad I got out of my job as a postman.

I have done each and every house + a couple of d2ds each address the other day on overtime. Literally had 5 huge bundles for a street where usually 2 are enough. I've done it and I am still alive. With election stuff being extra paid on top I certainly dont mind. Whats the fuss about? Look at it as addition to your xmas money. Unless these are different ones to those we get paid extra then fack'em.

Have you done political party leaflets before?
Amongst the differences between your common or garden d2d and the stuff we will face for the upcoming GE are:
The political leaflets don't just arrive at the office on the weekend prior to delivery, they come in before and during the week they are due to be delivered. One day you may prep and deliver 2 party's leaflets to your first loop, the next day prep 3 or 4 for the next loop and the other 1 or 2 that have arrived after you left the office the previous day, for the first loop. So that it 100% call rate on 3 loops over two days. Also take into account that there will be more than one week of this shenanigans with sometimes more than one leaflet per party/candidate. Also consider the huge increase in letters and parcels we will face on the run up to Xmas, inclement weather and less daylight. Inevitably there will be a monumental cock up in recording who delivered what and when due to days off, sick leave and walks done on overtime etc.
As if striking at Xmas wasn't attractive enough already.

No its not. I do agree with you on the fact that it is much harder to strike now but Brexit will mean that more British people are trained to do skilled jobs as firms will find it much harder to recruit staff from EU countries. It would mean that more new jobs would go to our British citizens rather than EU migrants who tend to bring their families over here as well.
I feel that we badly need controlled immigration and we are not going to get that whilst we belong in the EU. Can you wonder why the NHS is getting in the state its in? Its not the fact that it is underfunded, its being overcrowded with demand rather than supply, and when you see whole streets full of immigrant families, you don't need to be a genius to work out why we as an economy are going backwards fast. We need to ensure that low-skilled immigration is brought down and to attract the people with the skills that we need.
I'm not entirely convinced about EU legislation protecting workers in the UK either. I have a feeling that the EU agenda is one that serves to act against the interests of working people and in favour of large corporations.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Which makes it compulsory overtime. I'm going to go on strike and still vote Tory, best chance of ousting the hopeless Nationalist up here, I'd vote whoever was best placed to beat them, even Lib Dem and I voted Leave.

so here's an idea...flex your busy days election material 30 mins over per day (over 5 consecutive days) & apply for the extra payments; then flex the 30 mins late starts the week after (getting the time owed back) = win win. ps: do not docket/overtime during the first 5 days: just apply for the election items delivery pay//allowance due AND get yer time back week after!
hopefully that will fit well around xmas peak week, hopefully will still give you the extra cash to cover the strike days (w/o pay).
This would mean you get paid for contracted hours (work to time) AND get the election materials out (on time), plus a later start the following week would give the screws a s**t-storm of planning/potential mass cutting-off, all rolled-up with NATIONAL industrial action backlog. As the election payments are negotiated by cwu price per item....then we really do have 'em over the barrel now, don't we. RM Damned if we do 'em, RM damned if we don't!
I HATE TO BULLY YOU BACK BUT YOU JUST SHOULD NEVER HAVE BROKEN THE LAW mr BACK. I WILL FLEX MY LEGAL WORKING CONDITIONS TO BREAK YOUR SELFISH HOUSE OF CARDS.

Think twice. When will a British worker do the exact amount of same hard work as an "EU immigrants" as you say? Just look around how long the skilled jobs takes for brits because they work 1hr and rest another in the van doing nothing (I can see this everytime on my round as there are a lots of improvement going) and your house improvement takes ages (new roof, extension, etc etc.) An eu immigrant will do it quater of time and thats why the bussinesses favour them. They are cheaper as they do it shorter time.
I am not against everyone but this is a fact just easier to say they take all the jobs but nobody thinks why this is happening.
Here everyone moans about election materials... You got 3 days to deliver them... throw them in and take where you go and i guarantee in the third day you wont get more than 10-15 left as you will have christmas cards aswell for 90% of your addresses.
First the mentality should change.

That's a good old Tory theme. "I employ immigrants they're so much quicker and cheaper" etc etc.
They may be quicker or slower, they may do a good job cheaper or they may do a bodge and charge the earth, and no matter if they come from Romania or Romford.
Then again, those "bussinesses" couldn't then complain too much if they were put out of business by EU companies operating here, or if their business relocated to Bulgaria or Poland with the consequent loss of jobs.
"Do it in a quarter of the time mate, and cheaper" seems to be of no consequence when it's the individual indigenous worker losing his/her livlihood, but viewed rather differently when shareholders or multinationals take a hit. Same old double standards.

Problem is, business is forced to mainly employ foreigners. Not because they are better, but because they will put up with being treated like crap.Tman wrote:="Eckertomi"]postslippete wrote:Murdoch wrote:worktotime wrote:

There are all these the companies, that RM want to join by the way, forcing us into 0 hour contracts, no sick/holidays, self-employed gig economy jobs.
In the meantime there are 2/3 generations of families that have barely worked a day in their lives, because they are better off on welfare.
The whole system is f****d. And who is to blame, the EU??? Not the current government!!!
