Any packet that is too big or too heavy gets left for the van man and if he leaves it back then I just give them to the ADOM and tell him that I can't take it out (the packet man is a dirty, scabby, rude, ignorant, egotistical idiot
)

4 walkers?!?! Am I seeing things ? My DO ,1 driver to 12 walks- packets ,drops ,and part walks:welcome to your futurePOSTMAN wrote:Forget what the screws say or do,it has to depend on your driver and you.
Before i went driving my guy was a diamond,he would come round our frames and take stuff if he saw it was too big,and even go through our packet bags as well.
Now that i am driving i do the same.
The relationship with my 4 walkers is very good and we all help each other out.And so does the other drivers and walkers.
In fact there is a good togetherness in my office and this helps.
Working together and scratching each others backs can make the job more bearable.
We've been 'Doing the job properly' since May so getting time out of the job is not an issue anymore and this helps.
Help each other out, chill, and do the job properly,it's the only way.![]()

Doing the job properly screwed it up,got an extra van, duties were looked at and dodgy duties now have to take people out and pouch off, therefore saving jobs.
Could your 1 driver accelerate and pouch 12 out!! My duty couldn't previously with 7!! Oh actually yes it could as 4 of them used to use their cars!!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

How do you guys cope with packets if they are specials? Sounds like we (the walkers) are going to have to take them if they fit through this yellow contraption and with no official pouch drops on our walks will have to transfer them from one pouch to the next until we get to their destination or until we return to the DO if there is no one in.
Do you pouch them off and hope for the best? There must be a more sensible way of dealing with them.

Can't pouch off specials. There is a more sensible way of dealing with it, but RM won't have it.Eric wrote:How do you guys cope with packets if they are specials? BRING IN MORE DUTIES instead of constantly taking them out.

Lots of people do take the piss though, banding a few more smaller CD packets to the main one, it makes me laugh though at our office the Postmen seem to be able to tell that they can't get them in the pouches before they have even banded up, also rummaging through my skip of parcels to see where I am going so they can throw even more on if they have one for the same address especially small recorded packets so they don't have to wait around, & what about the posties who know someone on their round is going to be out but still give you the packet so we have to write the P739's out instead of them? I am sure a few of you can recognise yourselves there eh?

It's about time we had something like this as a reserve i've been on both sides and some guys really take the piss leaving small packets and these are the same people that refuse to take pannier bikes.
interesting point about panniers. We have printed instructions in our office that state "under no circumstances are packets or mail to be put in panniers" they are for waterproofs etc-. If your caught you will be taken down the conduct code.

for a minute i thought you worked in my office and was talking about duty 2. the only bloke that has 12 baks all at nice low weights. good for my back but loads of room for packets. but takes none. on a tuesday i have put 3 bags in a drop box one bag had and i kid you not cos i am that sad 27 letters in one bundle. i had 8 packets all small and 3 could go through the letterbox for his round and that particular bag. when i tried to complain to the line manager his mate i was told to feck off and get a life.Beforenineoclockgoodone wrote:Lots of people do take the piss though, banding a few more smaller CD packets to the main one, it makes me laugh though at our office the Postmen seem to be able to tell that they can't get them in the pouches before they have even banded up, also rummaging through my skip of parcels to see where I am going so they can throw even more on if they have one for the same address especially small recorded packets so they don't have to wait around, & what about the posties who know someone on their round is going to be out but still give you the packet so we have to write the P739's out instead of them?
