Contract

Can I ask anyone who’s started in the last 6 months or so if their contract is a ‘fixed term’ contract or permanent. I was under the impression that it was permanent with a 6 month probation period. Having just looked at my contract after having a query about my ‘probation’ having ended last week and not heard anything I’ve noticed that mine is actually a 6 month contract. Definitely feel like I’m being shafted by RM.

Whats your emails say, or something you can see when you applied? must have something to look at

I haven't actually started yet (first day next week) but my contract that I received last week is not fixed term, it is permanent.

Mines 6 months but am hoping ill get kept on. What happened after the 6 months did you get kept on?

When I joined in 2017 I was on initially on a 12 month contract. I was made permanent after 6 months service although I did have to chase up the manager a couple of times to make sure it happened!

My 6 month ended a few weeks ago. I spoke to the relief manager who basically emailed his manager saying he had 2 staff who’s 6 month temp contract was up. His reply was ‘just give them another 6 months’. I wasn’t happy. I’d had no review or anything. Spoke to my union rep, who wasn’t happy either. After weeks of my rep asking around and speaking to regionals etc, they have now said that because I didn’t get a 12 week review (as I should have done) that RM will have to give me a permanent contract by default. However I’ve still not had a contract yet!! And to be honest the way things have been the last few weeks and the complete disregard I’ve been treated with by RM I’m not sure I want one!
