The union rep in our DO says the D2Ds should be in our office by the preceding Saturday. If they arrive later than the Monday of the week they are due to be delivered then we are allowed to return them.
Absolute and complete bollocks from the union rep, .
Does it even make sense to you, that a company would allow its staff to turn away business and potentially lose a lucrative long term contract because the mail centre screwed up and didn't send the D2D out until Tuesday?
It's work like any other work, no member of staff has the right to refuse work inside their contracted hours, doesn't matter whether it's a letter from the Queen or a piece of nonsense from Specsavers.
To do that would be opening yourself up for the long walk to (jobless) freedom.

It's doubtful that the local MC would send it out that late, more likely it's been late arriving at the MC

I have no reason to doubt our Union rep on this one as he has been doing the job for forty years. If you think about the standard method is to prep a fifth or sixth of the D2Ds each day. So if they aren't here we can't do them. At one time we would get an addition percentage on top of the D2D payment if they arrived late but that has gone now at least in that format.

Lassie in our place does all her D2Ds on Monday, gets them out of the way.
I've done 7 loops (from 8) in a day. So what if the come a day late, get three lots taken out one day and get a day ahead. Also, I NEVER put the D2Ds in the frame. f**k that it's unfair and it's a waste of time. Bundle them up and stick them in your bag, do 2 loops a day or more if you can be arsed.
Most posties wouldn't want to try and hold a bundle of D2D, a bundle of letters, and maybe a packet and the PDA in their arms at the same time. This was the plan with the bench merging idea for which the trials failed miserably. Much better to deliver them from the frame when they have other mail. Anyone notice with some addresses they don't get any mail until you deliver the D2Ds ?
