Already waste time because people cant find their keys. Imagine if we have to wait on them finding their Driver license or passport. Only my wife knows where my passport is, wouldn't have a clue. Also is it only UK passports.
I'm sure we'll be properly coached on this...... not.

It was reported back in July that TNT had won the contract to deliver passports from January 2020 onwards - see here, for example. This is the contract that DX have lost

Do you have a passport or Driving licence on your person now? Answer NO. Well here is a form you can collect it from the office. What an absolute farce who comes up with all this crap!

It’s not a case of being negative it’s just that those on the street can already see problems that will arise from this. Yes they will be few and far between but they will still happen. I remember when P&L was at the early stages of being implemented we had numerous meetings and were encouraged to raise points and concerns only to be told by management & HR that we were being deliberately difficult and looking for problems that didn’t exist. Once P&L came in guess what....... yep many of the concerns raised became evident as daily problems!!!!!! This latest thing will be typical of RM - something dreamt up by a cockwomble that staff on the ground will have to make work.

are they going to issue us with stab vests now that we are acting like police officers by questioning and asking for ID's on door steps of potential psycho's?

How does the PDA verify that the ID is not fake?

Jesus wept. Imagine having to ID someone on their doorstep and then stand there and write a p739 in front of them. As if some of our customers aren't abusive enough.

NumberOne says we will get 5 a week. Rubbish. That will increase. The SENDER will jump all over this as an extra layer of protection for themselves. We will end up carding everything we take out.

Genuine question. How do we prove that we have seen their ID? Is it going to be like "Safeplace" and take a photo?

No photos will be taken but you will have to select a box on the PDA that says “I confirm I have seen ID” also on the AV items under the box where the customer signs it also says “by signing fo this item I confirm I am over 18 years of age”

The AV product is only available on Tracked 24/48 items and the ID verification is on available for Special Delivery items. It will be to extra cost of the sender, can’t see many using it.

This could pose a problem on certain areas of my round,the residents are already difficult at the best of times so when i card them in person i can imagine the abuse i am going to get.I too have no idea where my passport is :crazy: my wife keeps it somewhere? This will add time that is simply a fact,but i guess we can look at how many we have in the morning and if we need to make adjustments to the duty then we can always follow cut off procedure or book overtime.

I think that we would need a different style of p739 for these items that explains the rules.

I wouldn't have thought that there are many items that we deliver that would need ID. I am going to take a wild guess and say I have probably never delivered a knife or dangerous substance to someone this year.

I have delivered a lot of clothing, flowers, chess boards, duvets. I don't think these are too dangerous, I mean you could smack someone over the head with a chess board, or wang some roses at someone, but I don't think they need ID.

Is there anything that is commonly delivered that is on the list of dangerous etc...items?

Maybe in areas of knife crime a Postie might be having to ask a lot for people's ID's.

No new P739s are being produced but there will be a information sheet you can give to the customer.

This isn’t just something you will be requesting of the customer on a whim, they will be fully aware that these items are needed. When they order it, when its dispatched, when its arrived at the delivery office and when it is out for delivery they will get a notification that they must have ID when the item arrives

With the age verification I'm guessing it'll include:

* Alcohol
* Knives
* 18 rated DVDs and computer games
* Cigars, cigarettes and vaping stuff ???
* Any sort of firearm (no matter whether it's a BB gun, uses bullets etc)

Just had a quick look on RM's website no sign of a list yet
