MORE mail has been found dumped in Coventry.
Last Wednesday, the Telegraph reported that hundreds of letters and parcels, including DVDs, had been thrown into a river in the Ernesford Grange area of the city.
Now a man has come forward to say that more post has been dumped in a field in Walsgrave.
Dave Maddox, aged 69, of Abbotsbury Close, said: "One of my neighbours found 50 letters and parcels scattered among the trees on the Sowe Common.
"He called the police who collected it and took it back to the post office. The day before, another of my neighbours had all their post dumped on their doormat, which anybody could have taken as they live right next to a public footpath.
"I know other people who live in Dorchester Way and Bridport Close have also had problems with their mail being dumped as well."
A spokesman for Royal Mail said he was aware that mail had been dumped in Walsgrave.
He said: "The incidents in Ernesford Grange and Walsgrave are connected and are part of our ongoing investigation."
Dave Hatton from the Communications and Workers Union blamed the poor delivery service on temporary workers.
He said: "The deliveries in Coventry have been so run down that Royal Mail are having to rely on agency staff, who have no training and no experience.
"When they start they are just given a map of their rounds, so no wonder there are problems with deliveries - it's an absolute disgrace.
"Full-time staff are worried about taking holiday because they can't trust who is going to take over their job while they are away, or what kind of mess they are going to come back to."
* A bundle of post has been left by a flight of stairs in an apartment block in Coventry. Residents at Kenelm Court, in London Road, were disgusted when they discovered their mail had been left in a heap on a landing on Thursday.
Judy Bradfield, aged 83, was one of several who didn't get her letters delivered in the usual way.
She said: "The mail has not been what it should be and we have to put up with it.
"We've even put up with them not turning up with deliveries till 3pm. But this is too much.
The mail was just left at the top of a flight of stairs. There's mail for everybody and it's just been left there.
"It's not good enough - a lot of us are expecting our winter payments through the post about now."
