Take Amazon for an example, you can specify where it's sent to when placing an order and it doesn't have to be your own address. The person placing the order can still be the one whose credit/debit card it is but the person receiving it can be a different person and not even necessarily at the same addressk979aaa wrote:Do mean to say people are stupid enough to give them access to their payment info then those who authorised them to use credit in their name or were stupid enough to not secure it should face the full force of the law for said actions or inaction's sorry not buying this line of they do not know what is done in their name by their own kids bullshit!SpacePhoenix wrote:That doesn't prove anything as the person receiving the item won't always be the person that bought the item.k979aaa wrote:The point of sale is the best way credit cards ie the ability of control of finance the legal point of sale is purchase of which it is a possession to be in possession of and item to buy an item. Well that law needs amending not making 10 other laws and systems that will be found around again by smarter people who we pay £85,000 a year plus expenses, I for one IF THIS EVER CAME IN WOULD JUST NOT HAND ANYTHING OVER even if they were over 80 years old had a passport and driving licence and live in Buckingham Palace, It is a step too far putting the burden upon us all for the failures of our political elites of our nation!SpacePhoenix wrote:Take Amazon for an example, you can specify where it's sent to when placing an order and it doesn't have to be your own address. Knives should not be obtainable online ,so there should be no deliveries of any dangerous object.I will not be doing the governments, police or shop job .If it is sent through the postal system it should have a grey card to collect from caller's office. If they start forcing me to ask for id then bags will be taken back .So Royal mail managers extra work for me then extra work for you simples.

They'd have to x-ray every last item that is thicker than a mechable letter, which would slow things down too muchUNION JACK wrote:If caught sending knives a heavy fine and at worst dealing weapons and prison sentence .SpacePhoenix wrote:How would you deal with all the packets from marketplaces like eBay?UNION JACK wrote:Then ban them from selling bladed articles ,simple ,its easy we either want a safer community or we just go half hearted because money and profits are more important. This is the whole problem with the world money is more important than lives.SpacePhoenix wrote:Not feasible when some shops are online onlyUNION JACK wrote:Knives should not be obtainable online ,so there should be no deliveries of any dangerous object.

The same with every other illegal parcel that gets sent through post,if you don't know what it is you won't have to ask for idSpacePhoenix wrote:They'd have to x-ray every last item that is thicker than a mechable letter, which would slow things down too muchUNION JACK wrote:If caught sending knives a heavy fine and at worst dealing weapons and prison sentence .SpacePhoenix wrote:How would you deal with all the packets from marketplaces like eBay?UNION JACK wrote:Then ban them from selling bladed articles ,simple ,its easy we either want a safer community or we just go half hearted because money and profits are more important. This is the whole problem with the world money is more important than lives.SpacePhoenix wrote:Not feasible when some shops are online onlyUNION JACK wrote:Knives should not be obtainable online ,so there should be no deliveries of any dangerous object.

Our DOM mentioned it offhandedly at the end of (rare) WTLL a few weeks ago. Given his track record, I figured he was making it up. Anyway, I look forward to being trained to spot a phoney IDTrueBlueTerrier wrote:I haven't been told.

This has definitely been given the go ahead. There is a one hour fifteen minute conference call tomorrow for coaches regarding the training for OPGs to implement this policy. I imagine we will use the PDA to photograph photo ID such as driving licences or passports. Not everyone necessarily will have those forms of ID though. Maybe a better idea is not to sell 'restricted' goods over the internet or only for 'click & collect' services but not for delivery via couriers.
