If that were to happen i could see it quickly happening that night shifts in MCs would probably be put back by at least an hour, possibly 2 to save on night rate and dispatches to DOs being put back by the same amount. They'd probably have to have every last item scanned out to a container (box/hardy/sleeve (or mini sleeve)/york (or mini york)/RSC). Possibly with each container if not a york, scanned to a york. Each york scanned between work areas and scanned to and from any van or lorry. Each "sub company" would probably be billing whichever other "sub company" for even the slightest delay and/or discrepancy with what containers/yorks are supposed to be received by the receiving office/work area.postslippete wrote:Rico has always been under pressure to try and justify his grossly overpaid salary. A lot of talk about taking Industrial Action and "Showing Royal Mail our Solidarity".... But will anything happen?
Needless to say there will be CWU Communications on the build up to Christmas 2020.... We may very well get "Another" overwhelminging "YES" Vote (like we did last time)...... and then Nothing Happens!
You could argue that the YES Vote showed how serious we are .... and improved the CWU's Bargaining Strength.... but I often wonder if the effort really achieves anything? The Pension Problems have still NOT been addressed fully.

We hit the streets, the share price drops (even further), there is a hostile takeover and the company will be run by people who make Rico look like a picture of philanthropy.
This ship has sailed. Just look at how small the bylines are concerning the travesty that is the forced contract changes Asda employees are currently faced with. Tesco will be next, etcetera.... The unions have no real power at national level anymore. Just look at the fiasco of the CWU a few years back, being legally forced by RM to cancel strike action....after an 89% vote!
Unless Labour get in and keep their last manifesto pledge of renationalising RM then we have little real hope.
The money grabbing elite is coming for all our perks, contractual conditions, benefits and pensions...make no mistake about it.
Having said all that, I shall still be voting for and taking action industrial action with my fellow posties. Bring it on!
Ive no real experience in strike action apart from voting for the last proposed strike which was cancelled. I know the courts said no, but as we have seen on local levels, the recent walkouts are also illegal r so I have been told. What could royal mail or the courts do if the 89 % just said we are striking and thats it ? Not saying thats what we should do but just interested if theres any other precident set by other companies or groups which just walked out anyway.

last years planned IA (under a different RM management team) was deemed illegal due to a technically not followed by the cwu hierarchy i believe,
and we'll definitely be balloted again in sept/oct at some point due to the "new RM" team reneging/renegotiating the 4 pillocks agreement,
we will most probably end up planning on a strike for an odd day or 2 but talks will be held to drag it into jan then they'll say feck off
it doesn't go down well with most now PT, but an overtime ban will probably hurt them more without pi£3ing the public off too much

If RM continue down the line of trying to move Parcelforce employees into a new limited company, they will be in breach of the legal guarantees, surely? If their line of thinking is ‘we’ll go to arbitration and then do what we were going to do anyway’ then the CWU should immediately ballot the membership, as not going to arbitration first was why RM’s court action was successful last time.

The CWU has to go to arbitration no mater what otherwise RM will just go to court and get any strike ballot declared illegal and therefore null and voidwandle wrote:If RM continue down the line of trying to move Parcelforce employees into a new limited company, they will be in breach of the legal guarantees, surely? The thing is it is part of a private company and as such can do what it wants with it's operations and staff the only way is for the staff to rise up and kick the employers ass as this is termed militancy by the press who sit on their arses all day you can expect little public support but we are with you in your struggle.wandle wrote:If RM continue down the line of trying to move Parcelforce employees into a new limited company, they will be in breach of the legal guarantees, surely? Yes, we all need to work consistently from now on - start on time, take your full break, use the appropriate methods, lwts etc, whilst out on delivery, do the walk according to the frame, no cutting corners - backing loops etc, finish on time. Every day. Lapsing, absorption wouldnt exist if we'd all followed that approach in previous years but we are where we are and its not too late.world class male wrote:last years planned IA (under a different RM management team) was deemed illegal due to a technically not followed by the cwu hierarchy i believe,

The courts would sequester the union's funds.hero22 wrote: What could royal mail or the courts do if the 89 % just said we are striking and thats it ?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

LTB 491/19 - CWU & Royal Mail Dispute/Protecting the Four Pillars Agreement
14th August 2019
Dear Colleagues,
CWU & Royal Mail Dispute/Protecting the Four Pillars Agreement
Further to recent video updates circulated to Branches in LTBs 454/19 and 456/19, the purpose of this LTB is to inform colleagues that the situation with the employer is now at a very serious level.
RMG have now formally confirmed that we are in dispute and about to enter the final stage of the resolution process, external mediation, in an attempt to find a way forward. However, the mood music and attitude from the current RMG Board is very much adversarial and confrontational. So whilst we always travel in hope, we must seriously begin to prepare to defend our Four Pillars Agreement.
Over the next few weeks we will ensure that all aspects of this dispute are fully explained to you and our members, but with immediate effect it is essential that all Branches and Representatives, at all levels, ensure membership information is returned to the Senior DGS Department at CWU HQ (LTB 469/19 refers).
It is equally important that Branches are prepared for the eventuality that this dispute may not be resolved by negotiation alone and as a priority should begin to arrange visits/gate meetings at all units to make members aware of the current issues, as well as the gravity of the situation and that once again they may have to pick sides.
We genuinely believe that all aspects of our Agreement, the employment, standard of living and retirement security of our members and the very future of the Great British Postal Service is again under threat from the new RMG leadership who played no part in negotiating the 2018 Agreement.
There will be a National Briefing next week for Parcelforce and Senior Reps/Field Officials across Royal Mail Group (details will follow in separate LTBs).
Update videos on the current situation have recently been released by Davie Robertson (National Officer) and myself and can be viewed via the links below.

We had a visit from some senior man about 10 days ago, no idea if he was on a board. Talking about a 5-year plan and evening parcel deliveries.
He was American. Any time I've ever known Americans to be involved in the workplace it means confrontation with the workers becasue they will strip you of everything they can.
They are coming for us, if we don't get re-nationalised this could end anywhere.

Not sure I could handle this job for 20+ years on a 5 day working week. Need more rest than 1 odd day at a time. Muscles constantly aching. Maybe it's just me.SpacePhoenix wrote:For letters and flats that'll probably happen at some point.Don't know if we could see Sunday deliveries of SDs and Tracked (for a premium) eventuallynorris9 wrote:Can we have a 4 day working week, please.
I think in general the 4 day working week has been mentioned in the media over recent months, so maybe in time it might be something that happens nationwide.
