Hmm... Seniority? If it ain't broke, why fix it?

You know, I do think there is a bit of scope for slightly altering seniority, especially for new entrants who aren't as fit and young as they once were. But, to completely rubbish seniority just for the sake of it without thinking things through is going to cause problems.

I can well appreciate that being a new postie can present problems for those given their first duties; duties where the local bobby would fear to tread alone, but this is the job that some will have to endure. Plus the fact that they will have to get around pretty damn quickly too.

Now, can you imagine that after having worked your time up the seniority ladder, as has always been done before, only to have it taken away from you from people who have no regard for your wellbeing and its consequences to an older postie workforce?

Somehow, you've got to now live with this new daunting prospect that you will be soon working as you once were all those years ago -- on duties that are only really doable by the more younger and fitter postie. I think not! And anyone who does is a complete tosser!

I really don't see why I should now lose all my seniority and be working myself into an even earlier grave before I reach well into my late 40s, 50s or 60s. I mean, there must have been some logical reason for bringing seniority in the first place. Or am I missing something?
We posties do things differently, but we still get shot at!
