So what happens if someone is standing still for 5 mins ,ten times a day, and the one standing still for 45mins is actually on their break?daveyeff wrote:we had our second visit today by another one of RMs big guns. a guy called Richard Turvey. The Director for all the northern area. this time he took us all downstairs in 2 sections. so I got to ask him about the hour off in October. his words...''we will not be getting a further hour reduction, as we have not made the necessary savings' he says the first hour we got last year was 'given' to us for free!! but the second hour was to be funded by savings which have not been realised/met. and they just HAVEN'T got the money to pay for a further reduction. he also said the new super hub at Warrington which will serve 300 D.O.s will start taking the bigger packets off us in the next 18/24 months, leaving us with just 'letterboxable' packets? he couldn't say the exact size, as it hasn't yet been decided what the size will be. this WILL mean job losses but he didn't know how many or how they would be implemented (VRs or natural wastage as he put it) also he mentioned the PDA actuals. he said they weren't interested in people standing still for 5/10/or even 15 mins, its people who are standing still for up to 45 mins that they were looking to make savings from. he mentioned Sunderland D.O. which according to them is being targeted for 1200 HOURS!!…..yes that's TWELVE hundred. so be warned Sunderland D.O. He also hit on about the union meeting at headquarters the other day in which dingo/Martin Walsh mentioned about the four directors who had been involved in the 4 pillars who had been ''moved'' on. he said Steve Cameron was NEVER involved in the negotiations of the 4 pillars, so he doesn't know what the union are taking about!! the other 3 have either 'left' the company or been moved to different jobs within. also he was asked about hours that are due to be taken out of our office, are they going to be put BACK in when our busy period starts in the next few weeks, as the hours they want out are coming out in the slack summer period. he said it would be 'looked' at when its busy, and if necessary ''could'' be put back in. that will be a NO then. All in all he came across as very political (so not telling the truth). and I think by the sound of him, we are going to be going on strike. over to you dingo/Martin Walsh.

s**t! That's probably around 32 walks worth of hours to be taken out there! Sounds like they've got a MAJOR revision of ALL their walks coming updaveyeff wrote:he mentioned Sunderland D.O. which according to them is being targeted for 1200 HOURS!!…..yes that's TWELVE hundred. so be warned Sunderland D.O.

What they want sounds like hell to be honest. While a select few swan about with their vast millions, we’ll be busting our balls trying to earn a crust, getting bullied and scrutinised over every minute you stand still. These kind of practices are going on in workplaces all over the UK, not just RM. But it’s time for working people to stand up to these tossers before it’s too late.

this mail centre that's being started up in Warrington for large packets, they say it will serve 300 D.O.s. so if you had someone in say Newcastle sending someone in Gateshead a large packet. presumably this packet will have to go all the way to Warrington from Newcastle, about 150/160 miles then sent back to Gateshead about the same distance back, ….a round trip of roughly 300/320 miles? is this great idea saving us money??

Is that really much difference from how PF work were everything goes to their central hub, even AFAIK if the depot covering the sender and the depot covering the recipient are in adjacent areasdaveyeff wrote:this mail centre that's being started up in Warrington for large packets, they say it will serve 300 D.O.s. so if you had someone in say Newcastle sending someone in Gateshead a large packet. presumably this packet will have to go all the way to Warrington from Newcastle, about 150/160 miles then sent back to Gateshead about the same distance back, ….a round trip of roughly 300/320 miles? is this great idea saving us money??

I voted no this agreement. Now RM are able to use the PDA data and are backing out of the shorter working week. It is cruel how big companies are treating their employees. It is not right to have the threat of job losses looming over us. All companies should have a social responsibility to care for their employees.
Advancing technology is the biggest risk to most people's jobs...supermarkets replacing cashiers with self-serve, even bookkeepers will be replaced with software. It is disgraceful...what is this country going to look like in 30 years, what jobs are everyone going to have? Or are most going to be in unemployment, who are going to pay into taxes for much needed healthcare and pensions?

So tracked letters would be included?
It isn’t all tracked, they proposed idea was poorly worded

Tracked letters are included. There's no such thing as Tracked letters, anything like a letter that's Tracked gets treated as a small Tracked itemnumber one wrote:SpacePhoenix wrote:It's ALL parcels bigger than a shoe box and smaller Tracked.
