We were a bunch of muppets to go with the union's advice and vote for a really lousy agreement. Now Royal Mail want to take the good bits (for them) of that agreement and tear up the rest of it including the shorter working week / pay rise for part-timers. I will personally work to rule from now on. No overtime. When my hours are up I'm finished. Van checks will be completed diligently each day. PMT1s completed wherever necessary etc.

mediation.....next few weeks.....ballot end of sept/early Oct...….1st strikes late October.....Royal Mail.....applies for and wins ANOTHER injunction....strikes off till after xmas. then friends again :roll:
RM only stopped, or delayed, the strike last time because for whatever reason the CWU had forgotten there had to be mediation after the talks failed. That will not happen this time. If the CWU cross all the t's and dot all the i's then we can't be stopped from announcing industrial action. BA recently tried to bring an injunction to stop industrial action and failed then had to offer a better deal once industrial action was announced to cause the optimum amount of pain & disruption. We need to do the same. Given that Xmas shopping starts earlier than RM says it does I would suggest starting industrial action in the first week of November with a warning that it will not end until we achieve a satisfactory agreement.

Serious question who is the Divisional Committee? And why don't they know the difference between "Your" and "You're"?

Would a General Election have any affect at all on the potential timetable?

I think it’s fuss about nothing really it seems to me the deal the union got was too ridiculously good (the shorter working week) Royal Mail need to make more money, getting paid for 39 hours but only working a 35 hour week is pretty good, Now there kicking off that we might not get it but I can’t see how Royal Mail can make it happen anyway, except of course for the people that barely work 30 hours now but are full time if ya get me

I think we need to realise "getting paid for 39 hours but only working 35" will not be the correct interpretation (As some say now - I work 38 but get paid for 39/40) as the hourly rate increases for all - hence it is a pay increase for part timers.

The SWW is linked to pay as the Four Pillars Agreement states;

"In the context of our shared vision to achieve the 35 hour working week it is agreed our joint commitment is that this will be completed by 2022, and before that date where further reductions are agreed in connection with technological and operation change and pay reviews.
The first hour is proposed as part of the current pay deal for October 2018 (outlined in pay section above with further detail in the functional sections below), based on achievement of the detailed enablers.
A further hour will be linked to the 2019 pay review as detailed in the pay section of this agreement"

we had our second visit today by another one of RMs big guns. a guy called Richard Turvey. The Director for all the northern area. this time he took us all downstairs in 2 sections. so I got to ask him about the hour off in October. his words...''we will not be getting a further hour reduction, as we have not made the necessary savings' he says the first hour we got last year was 'given' to us for free!! but the second hour was to be funded by savings which have not been realised/met. and they just HAVEN'T got the money to pay for a further reduction. he also said the new super hub at Warrington which will serve 300 D.O.s will start taking the bigger packets off us in the next 18/24 months, leaving us with just 'letterboxable' packets? he couldn't say the exact size, as it hasn't yet been decided what the size will be. this WILL mean job losses but he didn't know how many or how they would be implemented (VRs or natural wastage as he put it) also he mentioned the PDA actuals. he said they weren't interested in people standing still for 5/10/or even 15 mins, its people who are standing still for up to 45 mins that they were looking to make savings from. he mentioned Sunderland D.O. which according to them is being targeted for 1200 HOURS!!…..yes that's TWELVE hundred. so be warned Sunderland D.O. He also hit on about the union meeting at headquarters the other day in which dingo/Martin Walsh mentioned about the four directors who had been involved in the 4 pillars who had been ''moved'' on. he said Steve Cameron was NEVER involved in the negotiations of the 4 pillars, so he doesn't know what the union are taking about!! the other 3 have either 'left' the company or been moved to different jobs within. also he was asked about hours that are due to be taken out of our office, are they going to be put BACK in when our busy period starts in the next few weeks, as the hours they want out are coming out in the slack summer period. he said it would be 'looked' at when its busy, and if necessary ''could'' be put back in. that will be a NO then. All in all he came across as very political (so not telling the truth). and I think by the sound of him, we are going to be going on strike. over to you dingo/Martin Walsh. :sad:
