im going to guess that managers who insist on people staying til finish time have had a lot of issues in the past with cut offs and un flexible workers

Everyone was back by half twelve on Tuesday & off home, apart from those that had not taken the lapsing, they where sitting in the van in the supermarket car park waiting until finish time.

Which will show up on pda actuals as big yellow dots! My dom would have them in the office for a chat about that and they would be told they are taking it next time no arguements

worktotime wrote:job and knock went out the window when p&l came in , and would any other business let you go home if you've done your work ? as your still on pay till your finish time regardless if the work is done , so your dom says to you yes you can go home but im going to pay the hours you've worked or if you go over tomorrow I will take that time back would you be happy ? did you start on time ? did you take your break ? did you use the methods ? as the CWU is pushing this . and then on busy days tell them oh by the way I wont be going over my time so I will contact you on whats coming back :thumbup and if you have an issue with that check the pda data .

Surely the answer is to give you more work , Just make the duties in your office longer and your problem is solved!

Nah, I know people who are done before 12 just about every day. Not anywhere that I’ve experienced though. So either their offices are ridiculously overstaffed with duties that need to be lengthened significantly, or the majority are cut to the bone and full of deliveries that could do with having (at least) an hour taken off of them. :hmmmm

There's at least 5 or 6 F/T'ers in my DO who complete their rounds and any lapsing/abs so early every day that their hours worked over a week cover 4 days worth. They're getting a days pay every week sitting at home (or ghosting for some/all of that).

So where's the PDA actuals in that office. Is the Dom doing the sector manager certain 'favours' ? If not, he or she should be asking some serious questions of your Dom. Is it the attitude of an office which incurs no overtime but staff go home an hr early, better than an office where everyone works an hr overtime every day (and thus gets paid for working, not sitting at home) ? If so, these bosses are thicker than we think.

Mostly it depends on whether lapsing has all been cleared for us. Although, our manager has had a meeting today to say that PDA actuals show that we can lapse more walks and our manager is wasting no time and is starting with a new lapsing plan tomorrow and that there'll be no more coming back early and going home. If there's mail left, we'll be made to do that - if there's door to door to prep, we'll be told to do that.

It probably seems like I'm complaining here but to be honest, there probably aren't many other companies that still allow job and finish. It was only a matter of time before Royal Mail started doing the same thing. That, and, people coming in early to finish early, doesn't help at all.

They might be monitoring it to get the average total amount of hours they finish early and will then take those hours out of the office

I usally get back an hour to half hour before finishing time & there is never any managers about to check what time we return, their office are locked up.
