It's all wishful thinking wet dream fodder from the company at this point.

We had this meeting on Monday, basically she was saying that the letters will decrease by 25% and d2d will
double in volume, they will no longer be doing LAT’s and that the mail centres can’t cope with the larger parcels as these machines were put in years ago when mainly dealing with letters, she said a few other things but nothing exciting that we don’t already know.

Did you really expect her to reveal the terrible truth about RM's/Alien Shapeshifting Lizards' plans for global enslavement?

I've heard they are doing away with letters and parcels but making the walks triple in length. all this will be done within the next 500 years.

I wonder if when enough packets get sorted by machine, if they also got new machines that could sort and sequence flats and letters together then they could have the system generate walks each day based on the work coming through

Ist class and 2nd class letters will disappear and will become standard class, except for SD. There will be about 14 MCs left after 2023 and more MPUs. Get on to your areas and ask them what they know because if they get the go ahead then RM is finished as they cannot compete with most of the other cowboys paying £8.21 per hour and lucky if they get any shift allowances. The standard letter will be ment to arrive in the 3rd day from posting. Different postal zones were going to be introduced but that, FOR NOW, has been thought a step to far, so close after privatization. :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :evil/mad :no no :so there
So they sell off the rounds that make the profit for a one off fee , keep all the loss making ones then let the business collapse. IT AIN'T GOING TO HAPPEN SO STOP SCAREMONGERING.

Who's scaremongering? This has came from a family member, the details of their position I won't go into for obvious reasons.... wasn't that long ago that if you said posties would be doing a postman drivers job, a phg locker job, and no sat premium the same reaction would have been posted. It is happening. .

Is it perhaps a diversionary tactic put out by the CWU so when they accept a steaming pile of s**t on behalf of their members they can tell us that they saved us from walk franchising?
I'll take 2 if they are small.

I seem to remember another rumour (around 2007) about part timers getting there bags/loops dropped off at a meeting point at the start of there delivery by a van driver. So they would never actually enter a DO just take the mail deliver it and go home. Another crazy RM scheme doomed to fail before it even got off the ground.

well, he turned up. unfortunately the DOM picked 12 people that could go downstairs to ask him questions, and I wasn't one of them. in fact I didn't even know he had turned up until someone complained to the lino about not being able to go downstairs to ask questions. the answer to that one was they could only allow a certain amount downstairs to question him as the rest were needed for the indoor work to get done. they were downstairs about 45 mins. not ONE of them asked him about the hour off in October!!. :evil/mad not to worry i suppose, theres supposed to be another one coming out to see us next month. we'll see.

First of all you say someone from "middle/higher management" then it's a family member who is obviously this person who is "middle/higher management". Oh and then you can't name them for obvious reasons!? Like why? They may lose their job for having a big mouth? They should keep their mouth shut then shouldn't they!

But why would someone from higher management be babbling on about Royal Mails future plans to you? Knowing full well that you're bound to talk about it with other people?

Why would that person spill the beans about Royal Mails future plans! Not because they give a s**t about the workforce is it!?
