They want a minimum walking speed to be introduced. It’s just like saying just because someone walks quicker why should they have to do more work? Works both ways

they wont get a minimum walking speed. there is too many variants/age difference/fitness levels/capabilities for that. a postie in their 50s/60s cannot be expected to perform like a 20/25 year old. some have back problems, hips, knees, feet, etc etc. it wont happen until we are all dead and they start a brand new superfit workforce at 18years starting age and brainwashed to think the management are effing great.number one wrote:They want a minimum walking speed to be introduced. if they did that they would have to kiss the ghost overtime goodbye, so they wont cos it suits them.pahoehoe wrote:It would be so much easier if they used PDA actual times for signing in and signing off to calculate overtime. I think if our manager just ignores all the problems in the office they will go away, but overtime, lapsing and holidays are the major issues at the moment. Doesn't help with an ineffectual union rep.

Don't know how they can have a minimum walk speed if some people do the job properly and others hedge jump and doorstep packets

So what is the solution? If somebody takes a long time to do a round due to age/fitness/back problems etc and someone finishes their round quicker because they are more able bodied should they be expected to do more work?daveyeff wrote:they wont get a minimum walking speed. there is too many variants/age difference/fitness levels/capabilities for that. a postie in their 50s/60s cannot be expected to perform like a 20/25 year old. some have back problems, hips, knees, feet, etc etc. it wont happen until we are all dead and they start a brand new superfit workforce at 18years starting age and brainwashed to think the management are effing great.number one wrote:They want a minimum walking speed to be introduced. People’s obsession on the phrase “ doing the job properly” is boring. Taking excessive cig breaks, talking to everybody, nipping to the shop, walking slow, trying 10 neighbours etc is not doing the job properly.eastie wrote:Don't know how they can have a minimum walk speed if some people do the job properly and others hedge jump and doorstep packets
When people are better than others, more organised and efficient they get accused of being a “runner” is all my years as a postie I’ve yet to see any postie run around their whole round

The information written on the signing on sheets cannot be relied on to be accurate. I regularly see posties writing the official start time down when they have arrived fifty minutes earlier. I see posties writing down a time they have finished at when I know for a fact they have finished far earlier than that time.postietom wrote:There's a sheet on the signing out desk.

RM will not tackle individuals with PDA actuals data unless they have done something really daft such as go home for an hour. As far as I know RM have not gone back to the 'four mile an hour' idea that surfaced a while ago. What will happen is that DOs will be hit as a whole via a reduction in the office budget. This will happen if significant numbers of duty hours are seen to not being worked. Then all posties in a DO, whether they currently finish on, before, or after end of duty time would get an equal amount of additional work to do.

Their 'WHOLE' round ,eh? Wtf ! So some actually run a bit of their round then? Honestly, how can you run using a lwt? ..........ah I get the picture, nobody uses one. More fools them.number one wrote:People’s obsession on the phrase “ doing the job properly” is boring. You’ve read what I’ve written and added you own interpretation into it. I’ve never seen a postie running but the people on here refer to “runners” all the time. They seem to use the term as a reason why some are faster/better than othersrambo1 wrote:Their 'WHOLE' round ,eh? Wtf ! So some actually run a bit of their round then? no, they should not. everyone should have an EQUAL workload. and there lies the problem. someone who is able bodied and much quicker is in royal mails eyes a target to give more work to. their PDA actuals are telling RM they are getting back an hour and a half earlier, so work that is handed back or not covered is given to these posties, or they are kept back until their duty time. they are literally making a rod for their own back. but that's not the fault of people who are slower/unfit/less able bodied, and getting back on their time. having said that, it CAN work in the favour of the 'runners' cos some that get back early do 'ghost overtime' therefore are in effect being paid more for getting finished in their duty time. they've scored for overtime and completed it in normal duty time so its a double edged sword. ...where do we all draw the line?number one wrote:So what is the solution? How can you get additional work if you finish on or over your time....baffling ?

Our DOM hides the OT sheet from us, and then when you tell them you went over and need to claim you get a barrage of question about why, follwed by intimidation and threats.

Because, certainly with using the current walk route design software, as a general rule the software will say all the walks are the same length. If for example one walk is collapsed they will redesign the walks with a view to adding a similar additional amount of work to the remaining number of walks.par4mrl wrote:Celgar wrote:RM will not tackle individuals with PDA actuals data unless they have done something really daft such as go home for an hour. Because the screws won't give the extra work solely to the early finishers as invariably they're the o/t kings who pull them out of the s**t when the resourcing plan goes tits up. Better to f**k over the rest of us idle lead-dragging layabout bastards in the name of 'fairness'.par4mrl wrote:Celgar wrote:RM will not tackle individuals with PDA actuals data unless they have done something really daft such as go home for an hour.
