scaremonging or do they want a strike?

Post by daveyeff »

the subrep phoned the rep today. told him he had been summoned in the office at half 2. DOM told him he had just had a conference call, he was told that EVERY office nationwide had to lose ONE body by next Friday!! so the rep went storming in and asked wtf was going on. DOM told him exactly the same thing. rep says its bollocks. the union had not and would not agree. DOM says he's going to get us in the middle of the floor tomorrow to break the news. it HAS to be crap. the thing is, they've got 2 interviews for new starters on Monday!! they are either scaremongering on a scale not seen before or they are wanting confrontation. any other reps been told the same s**t? should be interesting tomorrow.

This sounds like a wind up to me. Firstly, how can they say EVERY office must lose someone, when all offices are different - some are no doubt understaffed. Secondly, how can they let someone go without a decent reason? In the (unlikely imo) event it is true, the union will fight it and there will be walkouts everywhere.

well its got to be.(a wind up) having said that I went into DOMs office when I got back and I asked him aswell. he gave a massive sigh, then said ''i'll tell you tomorrow, its got me down aswell. my gaffers are telling me to do this and have given me a week to do it''. so as I said, tomorrow is going to be interesting. I will update everyone.

Could it really be that every DO has to get rid of 40hrs?

Wonder if it's the result of them seeing lots of people arriving back at DOs before their proper finish time

well I would've thought last in first out, but I wouldn't worry yourself about that. the union will not agree to it. there would be walk outs nationally and a strike.

i think there processes to go through and getting rid of someone by next Friday wouldnt give the correct amount of time.
