In Europe they wear hi-vis vests. Have a shoulder holster for their PDA. They don't have windows down on the van. They don't stop for more than 10 minutes at the height of the day for a rest or it will show up on the PDA, they have later starts every year so they can get more sun. Oh that's US!deristrong wrote:Seriously. In 40c heat what do you really do?

Don't make the mistake I made in the hot July of 2013 - I froze 2x 1 Litre bottles of water for the next day and by 11 AM was sweating like a paedo in a prison riot. Sure enough, I got a bottle out of my bag and only a dribble had defrosted which was insufficient. I almost fainted about 30 minutes later and had to ask a customer for a glass of water. By the end of the round I'd say at least 3/4 of each bottle as still frozen. Lesson learned - even a subtsantial tepid drink is better than a dribble of cold drink.

Only if it was worded 'take your break in the shade' as in your allocated meal relief. As it says 'take breaks in the shade' I interpret that as taking additional breaks out on delivery due to conditions.FirstPost wrote:taking breaks when out on delivery?Mr Rush wrote:One of the slides on RMtv lists a number of steps for working in warm weather, one of which is taking breaks in the shade while out on delivery. I strongly encourage doing that instead of getting heat stroke trying to get your lapsing done.what if your office has agreed with the union that breaks are to be taken before you leave?
